This was easy and delicious. Like a lot of people, I (sort of) halved the recipe (adding a little bit extra of this and a little bit less of that!!) and it still worked out well. I also added some frozen peas and corn. Unlike everyone else though, I cooked this in the slow cooker - put everything in together (didn't bother with layering) and put in on low for about 6 hours or so. Will definitely do this again, but I think I'll try it with diced chicken or with lamb chops as I'm sure it will be delicious with either of these.

Comfort food at its best! We loved it! I easily halved the recipe and omitted the green pepper (personal choice) I put just a bit of grated cheese over the soup mixture like you mentioned, saving the rest for using on top after its initial bake. Very easy to prepare and I liked that I had everything on hand which is always a plus for me. Thanks Kittencal for another great recipe we'll definitely enjoy again!

Mmmmm-mmmmm!!!! I followed Kitten's recipe to a "T" and can't imagine what I would have done different. Soooo good and yes, comforting. I'd venture to guess that even if your fella wasn't big on casseroles, he'd probably love this since it's mainley meat, 'taters and cheese!

We loved this recipe. I didn't peel the potatoes because we love skin-on potatoes. I didn't have any sour cream , so I used some low-fat cream cheese. I also used more red pepper flakes than listed. The recipe was very fairly easy to make and very filling! Yum! Thanks Kittencal!

I have not made this type of casserole in a very long time. I usually find that this type of casserole comes out tasting very bland or is dried out. That was not the case with this casserole at all. It was so full of flavor and nice and creamy. I did not add dried chili pepper flakes and I was out of cheddar so I used marble jack. I added extra cheese(I shredded to much so I added it - just to use it up). This was Yummy Kitten Thank you for sharing your recipe !!!!

This is very tasting casserole. My family loved it. I did reduce chili pepper flakes though to 1/2 tsp and it was still hot for my children. I wll make this again. Thanks.

This was wonderful! I didn't use the green pepper but only because I'm not real fond of them. I followed the rest of the recipe as written. We will definately be having this again!

This is my new favorite comfort casserole! I used a pound of mild Italian sausage, only 4 russets and the full amount of sauce. This filled my 9 X13 pan completely. The flavor was outstanding. Oh, I also added fresh mushrooms to the meat mixture and used cream of mushroom soup. I often make meals for people and this one is going on the list! Thanks Kitten!

Amazing flavor! I used my pampered chef mandolin on the thicker setting for slicing the potatoes and I had to bake it for 1 hr 45 mins - longer than I expected. I added the cheese before I baked it, and it became really oily, so next time I won't add it til the end and just bake it for a few minutes to melt. I used 5 med. potatoes and it was perfect - made a lot of food! Thanks for a keeper!!!! Really good!
