These are great, the texture is perfect. I made a few adjustments - omitted the white sugar, added 1/4 C milk, used a whole egg and only added 2.5 cups of old fashioned oats. I used golden raisins and 1/4 C sunflower seeds.

Just the right texture for a breakfast bar/cookie- not too sweet and filling. I made these for my mother who likes to buy the Quaker oatmeal squares at the store. For added protein, I used raisins and I added some crushed peanuts to the mix.

Great recipe! The Breakfast on the Go bars have become quite expensive. This is a wonderful substitute! I subbed 1 cup brown sugar and 1 whole egg, otherwise stuck to the recipe. I have also soaked 1 cup of the oatmeal in 1 cup water to make a softer texture, but DH prefers the more dense texture - I think because he can taste the oatmeal more in the softer one!!! When I had no yogurt on hand, I made instant pudding (small box) with 1 cup water (banana cream was all I had) and it worked fine. The only other change I made was to cut into 16 bars instead of 24.

We liked this recipe very much. I've been looking for some good "on the go" recipes for DH to take on workdays, and this one works great. Tastes very much like the Quaker bars you buy.
