I added evaporated milk to the cream cheese, the celery seeds, a little garlic, white pepper and some onion salt. Not much. The sauce was too thick with just 1 tblsp milk. No plain salt. It was nice.

Lovely, low-carb alternative to white sauce that my diabetic DH really enjoyed. But it needed some tweaking. As other reviewers mentioned its too thick without extra milk. And as written it comes out very salty — not quite as salty as canned soup, but much saltier than my family is accustomed to. After tasting, I increased the doubled recipe to the full, 8oz block of neuchatel cheese (aka, low-fat cream cheese), and 4 tbs milk. I also added a tsp of sherry and a dash of garlic to make it taste more like my homemade white sauce and less like cream cheese. I can see using this as a base to create many sauce variations.

Very good change from the usual white sauce I usually do. On the advice of others I added an extra 1/4 cup milk, just enough to thin a bit more. I did use regular cream cheese and like what the celery seeds did to the all-over taste. I'll be doing this again. No pic, sorry, my battery needed charging.

This is an interesting way to serve fresh green beans. I did need to use more milk than the 1 tablespoon.

Loved this... great refeshing taste and so easy. I hunted high and low for celery seeds here in The Netherlands, without success, so used a stick blender on a stick of celery , sieved the resulting puree and mixed it with the cream cheese, milk and salt. YUM! A nice easy lunch that used up some beans that I'd been trying to get 5 year old DD to eat but which she was resisting after the 3rd day in a row. A little jazzing up with this recipe and it was not a problem to finish them
Please see my rating system: an easy recipe that makes a tasty lunch or side dish. Thanks!

We all get tired of plain green beans and this recipe really perked them up, especially because we have to use frozen beans in the winter. I loved the celery seeds and I found the flavour was improved the second day. The sauce was quite thick and I think next time I'll use a bit less cream cheese. Thanks for a great alternative to the same old beans, Sydney Mike!

These were very tasty.... I read through the other reviews and took there advice and added a little milk to make the sauce thinner...... I also added a dash of garlic like 3killerB's because my family loves garlic and we eat it on everythig almost..... Thanks so much for sharing..... Edited 6-9-08 I am now uploading the picture from when we had these...

Different way to do grean beans! After tasting I added a little garlic powder and some pepper. I did need more milk too in order to get a sauce. Thanks for sharing.
