I made this cake last week and it was delicious and moist and very chocolatey. My husband, who hates zucchini and said he woudln't eat the cake took one bite just to please me and ended up eating almost all of the cake. I am going to make another one today and make make another one to freeze. Thanks!

This is quite good, but does not need nearly as much sugar. I also used 1/3 cup splenda, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1/2 oil, 1/2 applesauce. In addition, I used 1 cup white flour along with 1 cup whole wheat flour. I usually measure my zucchini a little heavy. Why skimp when there's usually plenty to use up, right? I used this recipe as a base for Chocolate-Cluster Peanut Butter Cake, #235737. Thanks for a great recipe!

I made this cake earlier this morning as I had some zucchini I needed to use up. Wow, what a delicious cake, the kids will never know it has vegetable in it, thanks for a great recipe. The only thing, mine took quite a bit longer than 40 mins to cook, other than that, everything went fine. Great cake!!

A great tasting chocolate cake - very chocolatey! I made it up as cupcakes/muffins and added chocolate chips but I should have used muffin papers cause they did stick. But the taste is awesome and have had people ask for the recipe many times! Thanks!

I loved this cake. I followed suggestions to add chips, use melted butter and increase cocoa. Excellent results. I needed to bake 5 to 7 minutes longer that posted time, but I expected this as I used the 9x13 inch pan. My DD removed it from the oven , I would have given it 2 or 3 additional minutes. The flavor of this cake is better after resting overnight.

Very good cake. It seemed dry on top so I made a chocolate boil first frosting to pour over it. It was wonderful!!! Thanks!

Was ok. Tried it because I didn't want a really dense cake, and it didn't disappoint there...but it didn't have much flavor, even with some mini choc. chips added in. It's light, but definitely needs frosting to up the sweet factor.

Terrific cake. I doubled the cocoa and added a bit of milk to compensate for the extra dry ingredient, and I threw in 60 g of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips. Chocolatey goodness. I started out with about a pound (454 g) of shredded zucchini, but after draining the water out, there was only about a half pound left! It doesn't show up in the cake, so I'm hoping my son will be none the wiser, especially after tossing some frosting on top.
Thanks for posting. — Dec 28, 2004
** UPDATE: Prepared this again last night and darnit it's still great! Added 1 tsp cinnamon this time and frosted it with chocolate buttercream frosting. Delicious.
