This is a great apple crisp layer. I used Jonathon apples and fresh lemon juice. The only modifications I made were to sprinkle the apples with a little bit of Splenda (maybe 1-2 T) and added an extra t. of cinnamon to the crumble. The taste was divine.

This is the best apple crisp. I did bake it for 40 minutes without the lid. Then I put the lid on and baked for another 30 minutes. Wonderful!!

Will make this my only recipe for apple crisp from now on! I doubled it and it was perfect in an 11x13 glass pan. I had to use some apples that weren't very firm so we cut the pieces in about half inch by one inch pieces. The directions for this and the cook time were exactly right. The crisp served up beatifully due to buttering the dish first. Thanks for sharing one of my new all time favorite recipes for a large family.

Delicious! I tossed the apple slices with the sugar and lemon juice before putting in the dish and I also added cinnamon to the apples. The crumbly mixture on top was wonderful, I added 1/4 cup chopped walnuts to the topping and it was a great addition. I brought this to a fathers day bbq yesterday and it got raves. Thank you!

YUMMY! This recipe is easy, quick, and totally delicious. I did it while waiting for dinner to cook. Pop it into the oven while we had dinner, and by the time we finished dinner, it was ready to be devoured! I used Kivik (Österlen, Sweden) apples - they were smallish and I had to use about 10 apples. I added 1/2 tsp cinnamom and 1/2 tsp nutmeg to the apples, and used brown sugar rather than white. I also tasted the apples to adapt the amount of sugar to suit our taste. I also added 1 tsp nutmeg to the crumb mixture. I baked it for 40 minutes and it turned out crispy on top and moist inside. I served it with vanilla icecream. Thanks for posting such a gem!
