This was great, very strong apple flavour so sweetner is not needed. I used quick cooking oats, grated apple & half juice, half milk to cook the oats for a creamier consistency. A nice change from plain porridge, thanks!

I just made this for a late night snack. It was tasty, quick (about 15 minutes total), and not overly sweet. I really liked how healthy this was...check out the nutritional info. I used a whole red delicious apple, which was probably closer to one cup. I left out the salt and the milk. I started to eat it without brown sugar, but found I need about a tablespoon for a little more sweetness. I like apple crisp better for a dessert (of course...much more fattening!), and regular oatmeal better for breakfast, but this is a great option for a quick & easy sweet treat.

A delicious and filling breakfast. I doubled the recipe for the 2 of us. It had just the right amount of spice. It was topped off with milk and Splenda brown sugar blend.

Good apple flavor. Nice healthy change from the prepackaged stuff. After carefully reading the reviewsI decided to make this without the apple juice and used all water to prepare the oats and apples. Everything else was followed to a T. This came out very nicely and not too sweet. I did not use the brown sugar and instead used maple syrup. dd was not thrilled but she is a sugar-holic! Thanks for a healthier alternative that tastes pretty darn good Annacia! zwt3

I love oatmeal and eat it several times a week. This recipe is delicious. I found it didn't need any sugar. I used unsweetened apple cider in place of the apple juice because that's what I had on hand. The cider sweetened the dish enough.

Since I enjoy sweet oatmeal(on the rare occasions you can get me to eat it), I made this recipe just as it was posted and boy was it sweet and appley. I really enjoyed it a LOT! My husband didn't love it as much as I did, but he can eat his oatmeal with nothing in it, so what does he know...right? I am planning on having this again. Soon. Reviewed for ZWT3

I made this for breakfast this morning, I used red delicious apples as that's what we have left from the summer, and didn't add the brown sugar. I also used unsweetened apple juice. It was an interesting way to make porridge, I think I will try it again without the juice (like previous reviewers have suggested) as even with unsweetened it was too sweet for me. Thanks Annacia.

Delicious and natural combination for my morning oatmeal. I had to use a bit more liquid. Nicely spicy with extra flavor from the apple juice. Thanks for sharing!

Annacia, usually I love your recipes, but this one just didn't do it for me. It certainly wasn't bad, but not for me. It was sort of too appley, best as I can analyze. I would have liked to add brown sugar for a more complex flavor, but it was almost too sweet without it. If I were to make it again, I think I would cook the oatmeal w/o the apple juice--ie use all water or all milk to cook it (but leaving the apple and spices in), and then I'd add brown sugar at the end. I also might reduce the nutmeg a bit. I agree w/ Mommamoody that this makes a small serving, but it was plenty for me. If you like a really appley oatmeal, this was a quick and easy hot breakfast.

Delicious and easy - not much more trouble than regular oatmeal. I made 3 servings and tripled everything except the nutmeg - glad I didn't, because it had plenty of spice w/ only doubling the nutmeg. I used peeled, diced, granny smith apple. We served with a pat of butter and some brown sugar - not much sugar required because of the sweetness of the apple juice. It was a warming, healthy fall breakfast!
