**JUST A NOTE- On the Nestle' butterscotch chip bag, it does say that you can use quick-cooking oats, too. Now, THESE ARE SOOOO GOOD! They're chewy, soft, and sweet. It seems like too many oats at first, but they come out perfect and give the cookies a great flavor and texture. I also undercook mine just slightly and they remain soft and chewy, but don't fall apart. Thanks for posting!

I made these on two different cookie sheets-- one was non-stick and one wasn't. I had a pretty hard time getting them off of the non-nonstick pan without spraying the pan, FYI. Also, I cooked two pans in the oven at a time and let the ones closer to the heat element get brown on the bottom and then swapped them. Even if they are cooked a bit longer for the "crisp" type cookie, they still retain the shewy quality. I wouldn't recommend trying for the chewy type as I found the batch I cooked less just fell apart.

I have used this recipe for about 20 years. It is the best oatmeal cookie on the planet. I was about to post it but found this duplicate. I'm glad someone else thinks there as good as I do. Very easy to make. I slightly underbake them so when they cool, they are chewy crisp. I also make the dough balls a little bigger then what the recipe calls for.

ooh yum...the cookies are baking as I am typing this. These are sooo good! I am sad because I had to halve the recipe because I only had 1 cup of butterscotch chips. Next time, I am going to use the whole bag just for these cookies! Thanks!

My Mom used to make when when I was a little girl. When she passed away I thought I would never find the recipe again! Thank you so much Caryn for posting these!

This is the recipe from the back of the bag of Nestle Toll House Butterscotch Morsels. YUM!

We love these cookies! I did noitice while making them this time that the recipe on the back of the chip pkg called for the 11oz pkg of butterscotch chips, not what is mentioned here. Otherwise the recipe is identical. We're basically getting a blizzard today, so can't wait for these yummy cookies to come out of the oven!

Mom asked for a recipe like this. I like that they have more oatmeal than most recipes, but my dad found them too sweet with the butterscotch chips. The oatmeal dough seems like it would be good enough to stand alone, though, especially if it were a bit spicier.

I loved these as a kid and they are a favorite with my kids. I made these for a tailgate party. Enjoyed by everyone. Thanks for posting a classic.
