These were so easy to make and tasted so good. I used 28 ounces of frozen green beans, added no water and used 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings. Turned on high for 3 hours and they were done. Thanks for posting Made for 1-2-3 Hit Wonders 2007

Rather than using canned beans, I trimmed and steamed 1 1/2 lbs fresh beans before adding to the pot. I also used the bacon but not the bacon drippings; this turned out to be plenty for getting a nice bacony taste to this sweet and sour dish. For me, this was good enough to eat as a meal in itself, but I did have a rice pilaf on the side.

Most of my family enjoyed the sweet/sour flavor of these green beans. For me, they brought back fond memories of a similar dish my German grandmother used to make when I was a child. These beans go together very quickly and with little effort. I cooked them in a 1-1/2 qt. crockpot for 7 hours. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. Made for ZWT4

This is so good! I made it on the stove top. Very tasty and very easy to prepare. We really enjoyed the nice sweet and sour taste. Made as a side dish for Rostbraten Mit Pilzfulle (Beef Roast With Mushroom Stuffing) and for Kartoffelpuree Meerrettich (Mashed Potatoes With Horseradish Cre. Made an excellent German meal. Thanks lazyme for posting. Made for PAC spring 08'

I love green beans and these did not disappoint. I'm always looking for new ways to dress up green beans and this is perfect. Very good!

We made this on the stovetop since we started later that ideal for crockpot cooking and our crockpot is huge. The result reminded my DH of his mother's German-influenced cooking years ago. Very good and would be great with sauerbraten, but we'll reserve five stars for two other green-bean recipes we enjoy regularly. Made for Zaar Stars Feb. 2008

I made these for our side dish for last nights dinner. I cut the recipe in half as only two of were there for dinner. I loved these green beans, nice sweet and sour blend, although 20 yo DD didn't care for them but I expected that to happen. Would definitely make these again when kids aren't eating at home. Thanks Lazyme for another great green bean recipe. Made for ZWT 2008.

I halved this recipe, but only used 1 Tbl. brown sugar, and 1 Tbl. balsamic vinegar and the amounts were perfect for us! SOOOOO very good!!! Oh, I also cooked a shallot in 1 1/2 Tbl. butter and added that, too. DELICIOUS!!! Thanks so much!! Made for the ZWT4

These are neat! I have never had them like this before. I had to use frozen beans but they worked very well. I used the ready-crisp bacon to save myself some time and a few calories. Other than that, made as posted in my 1QT crock pot. I love the flavour of these! Thank you so much!
