I've been making this pie each Cmas and Thanksgiving for about 15 years. It's deliciously rich and better served warm. This recipe is exactly like mine (from a magazine ad for Nestle), but I noticed on the Nestle's site, they've decreased the butter to 3/4 cup. If you use the reg. size chips, they may sink to the bottom, I've been using the mini chips and they hold their position more so than reg.chips. I've used pecans and walnuts both and they're equally good in the pie. I bake this pie for my brother-in-law's bday, too. It's a big hit with my entire family!

I followed other reviewer's suggestions and used 3/4 cup butter. Doubled the recipe and made two pies. They came out perfectly. With other Toll House pie recipes I often ended up with an undercooked center. These were perfect. I did cover the pie with foil for the last 10 minutes or so.

This is my favorite pie! My mom has made it for a number of years and now I am making it myself. Sooo good but sooo rich!! If you use smaller than a 9" pie plate, it may not be fully baked in the center after 1 hour (speaking from experience). Was going to post this but now I don't need to. Thanks!!

This pie is a chocolate lover's dream! The only change I made was using pecans instead of walnuts! The pie turned out beautiful and I will definitely make this again!

This turned out great, I omitted the nuts, and baked for about 10 minutes less. The chocolate chips seemed to sink to the bottom as I poured it in, so I sprinkled some extra on top, next time I may try mini-chips. I found it tastes even better after being refrigerated.

This pie was delicious. I added a half teaspoon of vanilla flavoring to the recipe, which I thought as an improvement. Also, I bypassed the cooling of the melted butter by adding it to the flour and sugars mixture and then adding the eggs, chocolate and nuts, in the order. We really enjoyed the end result.

This pie tasted great. Flacor of the chocolate morsels really came through. It should be a chocolate lover's delight. You may want to consider a deep dish 9" shell. My pie ran over in a standard shell. The recipe doesn't say when to add the walnuts. I added them with the chocolate morsels.

Made this tonight for my mom's visit. OMG this is rich, I don't even want to know about how many calories there are per slice. Who cares...it's fantastic. I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract, great flavor. I did use the crust recipe recommended, Laurie, and it turned out great. The only thing I didn't like was having to sop up quite a bit of excess butter from the top/around the crust edge as it neared the end of it's time in the oven. Such a great recipe for company, (to keep from eating it all!) I will make this again. Thanks a million.

Excellent! Delicious! Yummy! The kids gave it two thumb's up and my SIL asked for the recipe. It was a bit too buttery for me and next time I will cut the butter in half. I also added 1/2 t vanilla as suggested. Definitely a keeper!
