There are not enough stars to rate this dish! I have never been so excited about a recipe - it is so delicious that the next time I make it I will just have this for my dinner! I "lightened" it up with 98% fat free soup, trans-fat free margarine, low salt chicken boullion, and fat free cheddar and my husband, who hates "diet stuff", and who has also never been a fan of green bean casserole, loved it! Thanks so much for this - the old standard casserole recipe will never be used again in this house!

This has got to be the best Green Bean Casserole I have ever had.
I used Cream Of Mushroom Soup in place of the can soup and added 1/2tsp of black pepper. I also sliced my fresh green beans length wise as I seen Emeril do one day on his program and blanced the green beans in water with chicken bouillon cubes for 4 to 5 minutes. Than fellowed recipe as stated.
It is so delicious!
We will be making this recipe from now on when we want a green bean casserole. Thanks so much for sharing one of Paula Deens great recipes.

My family and I do not like mushrooms, so instead of cream of mushroom, I used cream of chicken, and this was amazing! Great Dish!

Made this for Christmas. My aunt, who doesn't like the "traditional" green bean casserole, went back for seconds!

My daughter made this for Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone LOVED it. Paula has really improved on a classic!

I felt that this didn't use enough greenbeans; for the amount of all the other stuff.. but I will certainly adjust that and then it will be absolutely perfect!

Good variation of the standard green bean casserole. I especially liked the garlic and mushrooms that were added in. Simple, easy, and tasty. What's not to like? But then, I can't think of a Paula Deen recipe that I haven't liked. Thanks, Kitten.

My husband bought canned green beans on accident but this recipe was still amazing.

Thank you Kittencal for posting this! I have to admit I was never a big fan of Green Bean Casserole...it's akways been kind of boring. A guest I invited to Thanksgiving dinner this year said he was hoping I'd make it since he loves it. When I saw this, I knew it would be a winner, because with Paula Dean, you can't go wrong! I followed the recipe exactly, except I used two bags of frozen cut green beans. I also fried up 4 pieces of bacon which I then diced up and added to the mixture. This was nearly gone and I only had five people for dinner! I did manage to have the last bit of it with my leftover lunch today. Thanks Kitten, and Paula for showing me there is an incredible tasting "Green Bean Casserole" out there! 1

We loved the addition of the mushrooms jazz up our old standard and cooking the green beans in broth made sense too. But the ratio of soup and butter to the green beans was too high for us. I would try again cutting the soup and butter in half. I used cream of celery rather than cream of mushroom soup for personal preference. Thanks for posting Kitten!
