74 Reviews of Applebee's Oriental Chicken Salad

From: Louise...

On Oct 10, 2004

This really is just like Applebee's! and since I really like their Oriental Chicken wraps (which is a take-off of the salad) I decided to try it as a wrap, with teriyaki sauce for dipping - it's great, too! Even my husband liked it, and he's usually a meat-and- taters kind of guy. Great recipe!

Absolutely IDENTICAL to Applebee's. Thanks, you've just saved me a ton of money, as that's the only thing I ever order when I go there. The chicken was perfect, the dressing was OUTSTANDING, the mixture of greens and "goodies" were right on. I made these into wraps fro my husband and I, and made extra chicken for the kids for chicken fingers. Everyone was happy and I have one portion left for lunch today! Hooray! I'll definately be making these again.

I prepared this salad last night for today's lunch. It turned out great! I loved the dressing and would never dream of leaving the mustard out, but to each his or her own. The chicken coating was really good. I think I will use it to make chicken nuggets for the kids in the future. There was plenty of the egg-milk and cornflake mixes left, so I actually could have coated a whole other chicken breast. I think 1/4 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of cornflakes, and 1/2 tsp. of salt would have been just enough, along with a less milk mixed with the egg. Thanks for posting this wonderful recipe!

WOW! This salad was fabulous!!! I especially liked the dressing. So simple to put together and tasted like restaurant honey-mustard dressing! Instead of purchasing red cabbage and napa cabbage, I purchased a bag of coleslaw mix (shredded cabage and carrots) and added this to the romaine lettuce. A little faster for us and less waste. Thanks for a great recipe!

Delish! Used the shortcut of bagged coleslaw and salad, then added the rest. It's the dressing that makes it! also, we just grilled the chicken. Still it was super and we will be eating this often!

This salad is delicious. It does take a little while to prepare, but well worth the effort. I always add a little bit more sesame oil. Try this one!!!

We like this recipe BETTER than Applebees! If you are in a hurry, try using cut-up chicken tenders from your grocer's deli and packaged cole slaw mix from the produce dept. Or, hit KFC drive thru and pick up some popcorn chicken to throw on top. Mmmmmm!

This has got to be the BEST salad I have ever had. WoW! I did change one thing though and that was, I used 1 tsp of seasoned rice vinegar instead of 1 1/2 Tbs. I am not a vinegar person is why I cut it down. The coating for the chicken was EXCELLENT! I will be coating my chicken this way from now on. I had a cucumber that I needed used so I added some to my salad. It was just pure DELICIOUS! This is a keeper for sure! Thanks so much for sharing a Fantastic recipe!!

This should be rated 10 stars.... we loved it... my better half ordered this salad at Applebees and loved it, but it made his sugar soar as he is a diabetic...I made it with sugar free honey and low fat mayo and it was perfect... he was one happy man...

Excellent recipe! The 5 stars were for the salad and especially the dressing, which tasted just like Applebee's! Oriental Chicken Salad is my favorite dish there. YUM! The only change I made to the dressing was to add 1/2 teaspoon of chicken bouillon granules, which added another flavor dimension. I'm not rating the chicken, because I used my regular method for breading and frying the chicken strips. I tripled the recipe and served this as a luncheon for 6 women, and not one bite was left. We could have used a little more dressing, so next time I will triple the recipe for 6 people. Thanks for a great recipe I will be using often....maybe even as a dip for chicken fingers appetizers!
