This soup is incredible! It's way better than the soup served at O'Charlies. Like most others, I altered the recipe a bit. I used 4 cups half and half, 1 cup 2% milk, 1 cup chicken stock. Also, I used fresh black pepper instead of white pepper. In my opinion, It also helps to boil the potatoes in chicken stock rather than water. My wife says it's the best soup she has ever had! I will be making this again for sure! Thanks!

This was very delicious. I did make a few changes: milk instead of half and half, 4 ounces of Velveeta, added a teaspoon of chicken base. My soup did get pretty thick, considering I didn't use the half and half. I thought the garlic powder added a great taste.I will make it again! Roxygirl in Colo.

The only thing this lacked was flavor. Sounded good, ended up being really boring. Nice try.

I don't like soup, but I loved this. I followed the recipe closely with the exception of adding some romano cheese, and just say back and watched my friends devour the soup. Great recipe!

Made it!! LOVED it!! The only things I did differently, boiled potatoes in chicken stock from grocery store (not homemade). Also put meat of three strips of bacon & about a tblsp of chopped chives into the soup right from the beginning. Allowing the flavors to marry a bit longer. Cooked on low for an hour; it's soup the longer it stews the better. This soup doesn't get much better!! Yummie.

Andrea, I found this recipe in our newspaper several years ago and it is one of my favorites! I have made it many, many times over the years and it remains one of the best. Very rich and cheesy and full of flavor for a potato soup. In my opinion, this recipe is better than the soup that is served at O'Charley's.

Just like o'charley's??? i made the recipe exactly as stated and used quality ingredients. It looked nothing, tasted nothing, was nothing like o'charley's potato soup.

This was delicious! Just as good, if not better than O'Charley's! I only made 2 changes- I did not have any white pepper to use, so I didn't use any pepper and I added 4 more oz of cheese - I love cheese and had a little extra to use up
Will make again and again. I cannot wait for my mom to try it, we have to drive 1.5 hrs just to get this soup from O'Charley's. Thank you! I high recommend this! Also, to save a bit of time- Oscar Mayer REAL bacon bits work great!! Make sure it says real - not those fake bacon bits
