Loved it. Gave it 5-stars because it is way, way healthier tasting than the canned chicken chow mein. Very easy.

This is a SUPER dish. Came together easily enough after work with ingredients I usually keep on hand. This is going into the monthly rotation. LOVED IT!

Love it! So easy and tastes great! I'm not a beansprout fan so I substitute shredded or julienne carrots. I also add 1 medium or large (to taste) onion in big chunks.

OH Lisa1 this was wonderful, outstanding, and just plain yummy. I used fresh mushrooms and a whole package of fresh bean sprouts. In fact the only canned things were the chow mein noodles and water chestnuts. You have a real winner there. Thank you very much. We will be having this again.

This was a very easy recipe to follow, didn't take long, had all the ingredients except for chicken, so subbed beef, and beef broth, and that worked out very well. Family loved it, Husband said it was the best chow mein he had ever had. I added a sliced carrot for color with the celery and a few pieces of onion I had on hand. Will be making it again. Thanks- justsaymo

Very tasty. I used 2 packages of fresh bean sprouts, as my hubby likes a lot in his chow mein. Also I thought 2-3 stalks of celery was enough.

Every time I use a recipe from this site, I ask my husband how many stars it deserves. This time he looked at me and said, "Well duh! I could eat this every week!" Pretty high compliments from him...Even my 10 month old ate some. I did change the recipe up a little bit to what I had in the cupboards and our likes. A whole package of celery seemed like a lot to me, so I used what I had in the fridge which amounted to a little more than a stalk. Since I used less celery, I added the whole can of bean sprouts I had. I also used fresh musrooms, as opposed to a can. This really seemed to make a difference to us. I ended up not having water chestnuts after finding out that my can had expired, so I added a half of onion instead, and it added a lot of flavor. I think you could also could add bamboo shoots if you want. I hadn't realized that my soy sauce had run out, so I didn't add any, but I added the rest of my 14 oz can of broth instead. To that I added a couple splashes of worchestershire sauce just to add a little bit of a salty flavor. We couldn't tell the difference to be honest. It was over all a very good and simple recipe, which is always necessary around this mad house! We will definitely be making this again at our house!

You're right Lisa, this is easy to make. It's just as good as any take-out chow mein I have eaten. This is 1 of my favorite recipes and I make it often. Thnx for sharing!!

I'm always looking for good and quick recipes to make. This one was awesome! Thanks for posting. I will make this again, especially when grilling season is over, when we want a quick fresh meal, or when we have another couple over for dinner for a casual meal.
