I want to tell the world this works!! After 10 minutes soaking time in this easy, inexpensive solution, my jewelry was sparkling...and without lots of rubbing or buffing! The necklaces I cleaned were handmade with lots of small intricate sterling silver beads and wire strung with artisan, dichroic glass beads. I had tried to clean these favorite pieces of mine by using a jeweler's cloth, but the material just wouldn't reach inside all the small twists and turns, leaving lots of tarnish. I can now wear all my sterling jewelry and make some more without fear of having tarnish ruin everything. Thanks so much for posting this recipe!!!

Before trying on my favorite silver jewelry (just in case) I tried it on my inexpensive silver Christmas speaders that were so tarnished I was embarrassed to use them! 10 minutes in the solution, rinsed well and dried with a soft paper towel--they look wonderful. I had all the ingredients on hand and it was inexpensive to boot. Good thing we have leftovers for tonight because I am spending the rest of the afternoon cleaning my jewelry and silver!

This stuff works great! I went to clean my jewelry and realized my store-bought cleaner was old. I found this recipe and gave it a try. Kept the brush and basket from the store-bought, so I didn't need to use the tin foil. Dang! My jewelry is shiny! Posted a few picks so others can see how great your recipe works. Thanks for posting this terrific solution!

This worked great for my sterling silver and silver plated jewelry, but it made all my copper stuff turn black.

This works wonders!! I used it on my wedding rings - it left my diamonds stunningly glittery!! It is so economical as well - a real winner - I will definately use this for now on!

This worked very well and not only on my silver watch band but my salt and pepper shakers and stainless steel sink. I did wear a glove when using this and will definitely be making it again!

OMG!! I saw this and I HAD to immediately try it!! This works surprisingly very well! I have to admit! I warmed up the water in the microwave in a glass pyrex measuring cup and then added the salt, baking soda and dish detergent and it immediately foamed up. So there was some sort of reaction there! Poured this stuff over all my jewelry in the aluminum foil laced bowl and let soak for 10 minutes. I wear mostly two tone jewelry with mostly white gold. My watch came out the best I think. Its very old and was kind of grimy and it was glistening once it was done!! My rings and bracelets probably should have soaked for another 5 to 10 minutes so that the solution could have gotten into the more intricate details of the jewelry, but it did an awesome job overall! This is quick and fast and easy and it uses ingredients we all have in the cupboard! Gotta try this!

I used this on my sterling silver puzzle ring this morning and it cleaned all the tarnish right off! Thanks so much for saving me from having to buy jewelry cleaner!

I don't have much jewelry, and I rarely wear what I do have, so I haven't tried this. But I wanted to pass on an even easier trick a friend taught me long ago Toothpaste works great to spiff up silver hewelry. Just rub it on, then rinse it off! Obviously, dry the jewelry afterwards. (I'm a Crest regular paste gal, so I don't knonw if it would work with the "gel" types of toothpaste.))
