This is GOOD! I've never cooked okra before. Our neighbor grows it and gave me a huge bag. I had to do something with it, and this recipie has such good reviews, I had to try it. More okra on the table, for sure. I minced about half and just gave up and thinly sliced the other half. I also added some garlic. An outstanding recipie.

yummmmmmm! Best describes this!! With all the fresh okra available, I wanted to try something different. This taste very much like regular fried okra,,,but less messy with flour/cornmeal stuck on your hands, sink, etc.
I followed your recipe exactly and can say I will be making this as often as I can get the fresh okra,,will freeze some okra for winter use too! The only thing I'd change next time is to dice the okra before hand..as it takes a little time to do this. Other than that wouldn't change a thing, but might add a little garlic to it. A very easy, simple to make recipe. Thanks for a "down home" plain 'ole good okra recipe!! Kitty

I've made this several times, since I've reviewed it (love it). This time, I just wanted to add that this works well with finely chopped eggplant, too. Like okra, eggplant can be hard to find new recipes for, so I thought this might give someone an idea. I added a minced jalepeno to it. THank you for inspiring me.

What a great way to use okra. I really preferred this over individually coated slices. I halved the recipe. I used 1/2 of a 16 0z. bag frozen okra which I pulsed on the lowest speed in a food processor while still frozen to break into tiny pieces. Just pulse for a second or two... let it settle... pulse for another second or two. It did a real nice job of mincing it for me but I think you will have to do it while it is still frozen for it to work or otherwise it will puree it. I made this well ahead of time and stored patty mixture in the refrigerator until it was time to fry it. I don't think I will ever fry okra any other way again. This was my "find of the month". Thanks alot.

Because I didn't have any cornmeal I had to use all flour, so I won't rate this. My kids absolutely loved these patties, while my husband and I weren't as impressed. The taste was fine, but the slimy texture of the okra bothered me. Perhaps I should have fried them longer to make them crispier.

Very tasty! I used a box of frozen okra, about 10 oz., but didn't change any other measurements, so there was proportionally more "fritter" to mine. I'm trying to get more fiber into DH; he liked these, but he is funny about "new" veggies. I thought they were great, and have been happily nibbling on the leftovers straight from the fridge! Thanks, Miss Annie!

This was great! I fried some this evening. It turned out looking much like Sharon123's. I love okra. I used frozen, cut okra. I let it defrost at room temperature about 45 min. and then I chopped it by hand using a big butcher knife. I spread the okra on few layers of waxed paper and chopped away. Pretty easy. Great results. I like okra so much, I might even leave out the onion next time. Just the okra and cornmeal mixture for flavor. Yum, Yum... Thanks Miss Annie for a fine recipe.

Wow, simply delish! I have never made fried okra from scratch before! No more store bought in this house! I put in a little bacon grease in the egg mixture for added flavor. Also, I didn't chop my okra fine.
