105 Reviews of Brownie Trifle

Believe me this does not taste like mix brownies and instant pudding! It tastes like it took much more effort to prepare than it did. Instead of a bowl, I prepared these as individual parfaits for our New Years eve dinner - what a fun & tasty treat, and looks impressive! I left out the coffee because we had a coffee-hater in the bunch. I did try to make the pudding with soy milk but it refused to set up. After 2 tries I resorted to dairy milk. Who knew? The other thing I did differently was just for the littler kids who didn't like toffee. I substituted mini m&m's. They were colorful & cute and the kids went wild for them. Great recipe.

O.M.G. Mirj, Thank you. This was so easy to make and absolutely YUMMY. I have never made a Trifle and decided to do this for Christmas dessert. Am I glad I did. Just to clear things up for others though, I will add that you make the brownie mix with the ingredients that you list in your recipe (not as stated on the box) but with the box directions. Also, use a small box of instant chocolate pudding (3.625 oz.). That is the size for 2 cups of milk. I bought the large box by mistake first. I could have used it but wanted to follow your recipe. For English toffee bits I was able to buy an 8 oz. bag of Heath Bits of Brickle Toffee Bits and must say I used the whole bag (what's an extra 2 oz.'s when it comes to toffee bits!). I also used French Vanilla Cool Whip as recommeded by BJTaillights. I can't wait to try this with some of the other suggestions I read in the reviews such as Pianolady's-strawberries or desert00-carmel sundae syrup. Oh my mouth is just watering thinking of these combinations. This is so easy to make and yet so decadent to present and appears to be much more labor intensive than it is. Thank you for a keeper to impress guests in my home!! Tweeky

OH MY! that was amazing!! I made this for a superbowl/birthday party and as the night progressed after a few drinks (maybe more than a few!) We were eating out of the dish with a spoon passing it around!! it was sooo good. Here we have this candy bar called a Skor bar and it is milk chocolate covered toffee. So I crushed that in my crusher/chopper, and used that. Definately will be using this over, and over, and over, and over..........again!

This is the best dessert I have had in a long time. So simple to make, also. I made it for thanksgiving and everyone raved about it and want the recipe. Very rich, but boy is it delicious. I used broken up heath bars and french vanilla cool whip, also added a few pecans. Thanks for sharing such a great dessert. Bjtaillights

This was incredible. I made it twice in one week - once for home and used heavy cream and once for work using lite cook whip. This will become a favorite in our household. So easy yet sooo good. Was worth the time to whip the cream but not bad at all with cool whip. Thanks!

My hubby went wild over this one! I used fresh strawberries mixed with a little sugar and layered over the brownie layers... yummm! I also used some english toffee bits as topping on the whipped cream layers. I combined this with S'kat's Chocolate Sin Trifle #17811, and the result was wonderful. Thanks for the recipe!!

This wowed the crowd! Since wee ones were also eating this I left out the coffee, but otherwise followed directions exactly. DD is thinking this might become her new fav birthday "cake". Thanks for sharing Mirj, it was fantastic!

One word says it all.....Delicious. Guests don't believe how simple a recipe it is to prepare. One word of caution, there will be no leftovers.

Wow! This was so easy and is so delicious! I am hosting a ladies holiday lunch at my house tomorrow and was in charge of the dessert. I can't wait for them to dig into this! I made myself a little parfait out of the extras and it was to die for! I didn't include the coffee, but did everything else per the recipes directions. Chocolate lovers...you've got to try this one! Wow! Thanks for the great recipe!
