I used 1 lb regular choc. chips and 1 lb white, and mixed half the extract with each (actually, I forgot to mix the extract in the white, but you can't tell.) I layered the chocolate on the bottom and then mixed the candy cames with the white and layered on top. I reserved some candy canes to decorate the top.

I made this with 1 lb. bittersweet chocolate and 1 lb. white chocolate, both Ghirardelli bars (I love that brand). I divided the crushed canes and peppermint extract among the two chocolates and swirled them together in the pan. (BTW, parchment paper works as well as wax paper)And please do save some of the crushed canes to sprinkle over the top. It gives the bark a "completed" look. My family loved these. I was looking for the container this morning to make gift containers for some of my husband's employees and our hairdresser, and couldn't find the container. My husband had taken the entire thing to work with him! So that's all gone now, looks like I'll be making another batch so the people that were intended to have some will actually get some. Great recipe, thank you!

YUM! I didn't follow the recipe exactly as stated. I used 1 lb. of semi sweet chocolate with 1/2 tsp. of peppermint extract. I put it in pan and let it harden. Then, I used 1 lb. of white chocolate with 1/2 tsp. of peppermint extract and just a handful of crushed candy canes and spread on top of the semi sweet chocolate. I sprinkled crushed candy cane on top for decoration. I used maybe half of the crushed candy cane--maybe 6 candy canes. I didn't want the peppermint to be too overwhelming. It turned out perfect! Thanks so much for the recipe!

Made this last night to put in small packages for my neighbors for a holiday gift. It turned out wonderful. I used the "Guittard" chips as recommended (they were on sale!!) and they melted really well. I think that next time I will reserve some of the crushed candy canes for the end and sprinkle them over the spreaded chocolate to make them a bit more noticeable. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

Yummy and super simple! I used 4 - 7 oz. bars of good white eating chocolate from Germany along with 12 peppermint candy canes in red, green and white. I melted in the microwave at 40% power for about 2 minutes. I skipped the extract, but may try it next time as it wasn't as minty as I though it'd be. Last year I made something similar and used starlight mints. The mint flavor was more prominent with them than the candy canes, so next time I make this recipe, I'll try the mints, too. Everyone loves these and they make a nice addition to goodie trays. I even like them and I don't like white chocolate! Thanks for sharing

Made this 2 days ago for my mom to bring in to work and share. They were a HIT! I kind of altered this recipe to use what I had on hand, which was 2 bags Chip It White chocolate chips, about 25 mini candy canes and omitted the extract. After crushing the candies I put them in a strainer and shook them over the melted chocolate. I then sprinkled the bigger pieces on top to make it more eye catching. So simple and easy, but best of all VERSATILE! Thank you so much. These were gone in the blink of an eye!

I made this for the first time this year. My whole family thought it was wonderful. I received a lot of compliments and people wanting the recipe. The only thing I changed was that I added more peppermint than it called for the second time around. I think next year I'll add 3 tsp. GREAT RECIPE!!! THANKS!!

After me and my friend tried the Williams-Sonoma brand, we found your recipe and gave it a try. I loved it! It looked very pretty also. We put the bigger chunks of candy cane in the white chocolate and used the small pieces to dust the top. We did try doing a milk chocolate layer and then a white chocolate layer which is very good too, but after I posted our problem of the white chocolate seperating from the milk chocolate, I realized we probably let the milk chocolate chill to long. Next time, as suggested by Chef Totalfark, I will let the milk chocolate sit at room temp and then put the white chocolate over it. So other then our mistake, this recipe is very good and I will definately be making it again!

Wonderful holiday recipe! Easy to make, tastes great and looks pretty in goodie bags. I actually used Kroger white chocolate bark and melted it in the microwave, which worked out fine. I put the small chunks in the chocolate and then sprinkled the candy cane dust over the top to add some sparkle.
