21 Reviews of Paula Deen's Molten Lava Cake

From: KattPhysh

Very yummy, chocolatey dessert! It was very easy to make. I used 8 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of the chocolate squares and left the Grand Marnier out. It still turned out great. We didn't have any ice cream, I am sure it would have been great with it! Just like a hot fudge sundae.

This was wonderful. I did however have to cook it for a little bit longer because the first one I flipped over just oozed all over the place. So I just shut off the stove and let it sit there for an additional 3 minutes and then it was fine. Served it w/ vanilla ice cream.

I made this for my husband on Valentine's Day and he loved it (as did the kids). Substituted 8-oz semi-sweet chocolate chips, used four whole eggs and omitted the Grand Marnier. Baked in six large silicone muffin cups for 14 min. They were easy to remove after cooling for 5 min or so. The centers were wonderfully gooey. Served with a drizzle of raspberry sauce on the side. Great recipe! This is definitely going in the family recipe book.

My sister just made this for us tonight and it was INCREDIBLE! Rich, moist, and so chocolatey! This is one of those really impressive desserts that is simple to prepare but will seem like it's super fancy!

i really loved it. although i had to add a few more minutes to mine. all ovens are different. 14 mins left me w/ super wet batter and it didn't stay together...just a sloppy wet mess on the plate. so i just shut off the oven and left the rest in there for a few mins till it cracked on top and i took it out and it came perfect. came out of the ramekin perfect and i thought i overcooked it but when i got thru the middle it was the perfect amount of gooeyness. this is the 2nd "molten" cake i tried. the 1st one i tried was nigella's chocohopots also on foodnetwork. i loved nigella's too...and hers was alot easier since it had fewer ingredients...but paula's version came out better since paula's keep it's shape and looks "prettier" while nigella's is meant to stay in the ramekin. also i had no grand marnier so i omitted that part of the recipe and for the chocolate part i ended up using 8oz (1 1/3 cup) of semi-sweet chocolate chips since that's all i had. overall a great recipe...just baking time is up to your preference. i prefer not as much gooeyness as the photo by kattphysch and cooked it enough to my liking. well i took a picture to show how mine turned out.

love this! i've made this twice for my friends and family and they're always begging me for more!! i tried it in two different ovens, and both times 14 minutes was too long. the cake wasn't gooey enough, but it was still good. i'm gonna have to cut down the time to make the center extra gooey. very rich chocolatey flavor... excellent with fresh strawberries and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream while the cake is still warm

OH YUM! these are the easiest and yummiest way to get your chocolate fix! Super easy to make. I melted the chocolate squares & butter in the microwave. I made 4, but should have made the full recipe. I over cooked them slightly so the center didn't ooze out but they were still gooey & moist, kinda like a flourless cake. I will make these again and again. I made hours ahead of time and then warmed in the microwave for about 30 seconds before serving . Ran the knife around the ramekin(s) and they slid right out! What a treat! My 10y/o son went nutz for it. It was his bday cake! Thanks a bunch for a real winner Jenn1980!
