These are great, nice texture, lovely and soft. I reduced the sugar to 3/4 of a cup and used a 'light' sugar which is a mix of splenda and regular sugar. I added 1/2 cup of chopped hazlenuts and 1/2 cup of mixed white and dark chocolate chip. Next time I might reduce the sugar a little more, because they were still very sweet, and I like to cut it down as much as possible.

I couldn't get enough of these cookies. They were so moist and yummy. I made them with raisons and now I'm trying them with chocolate chips. Thanks very much! Paula

This is the BEST oatmeal cookie recipe I have ever made. I didn't have lard and had to substitute with margarine and they turned out awesome. Thank you for the recipe. It's a keeper.

These were absolutely delicious! I followed the recipe exactly. Plain oatmeal cookies had been requested, therefore I didn't try it with the optional add-ins, so I added 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. They were GONE, and everyone begged for more. I should have made 2 batches... thank you so much! This is definitely THE oatmeal cookie recipe I will be using from now on.

I made these plain, without add-ins. The texture was the perfect combination of crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. Excellent flavor. I got 48 cookies when using just a little smaller than golf ball size scoops of batter. A real keeper.

Only thing I did differently was add 1 tsp. of cinnamon and a few grates of fresh nutmeg. AWESOME!!

Made these as written (without optional nuts/chips/raisins), but added cinnamon per previous reviews. I also thought they were a bit sweet, HOWEVER my husband who is not a sweets person really really liked these. 12 minutes worked perfectly — in 340 degree Convection oven. Stayed together beautifully, very nice texture too.
