I actually watched Rachel make this soup and though it looked good, so thanks for posting. I cut the recipe in half for the two of us, and grated one small russet potato- can't imagine buying preshredded potatoes when it only takes a minute to shred! An excellent creamy chowder. Thanks Sal.

This is the first time I've ever attempted making clam chowder from scratch and I must say I was quite pleased with the results. The only things I changed were leaving out the carrots (I forgot to buy some) and using proscuitto instead of bacon. (I happened to have one and not the other). This soup was rich and hearty and came together quickly. I'm sure it will be twice as good tomorrow when we have it for lunch! I can't wait. Thanks so much for sharing this beauty of a 30 minute meal. Mmmmm. Chowda!

Tried this...yes, it was easy. Made it with my 9-year-old daughter. But it didn't seem to have much flavor. Needed more seasonings or something. I did use low-sodium broth and didn't add much salt, but lots of salt shouldn't be necessary for flavor...I also added only about half the hot sauce, since my family doesn't care for that particular seasoning much... I'm disinclined to make it again. It didn't come out thick the way I like...I suppose it needed more flour for that. I'd rather try a different recipe next time, although this was OK, just not great. My daughter liked it, and son didn't complain. Hubby agreed with me that it was lacking somethingorother. It made a lot more than 4 servings for my family...more like 8.
