What a nice surprise this was. The whole family totally enjoyed this. Served this with Low Fat Rice With Peas & Carrots (Kosher-Pareve) Low Fat Rice With Peas & Carrots (Kosher-Pareve). A nice recipe to add from pic a chef.

We liked this, the sauce wasn't sweet like I thought it would be. Might try this with Dr.Pepper (my DD idea) next time.

This was really delicious and as the description indicates, you don't know that it has Coke as a main ingredient. I made one change to the recipe because I don't like cornstarch-thickened sauces. I lightly dusted the chicken pieces with flour and browned them briefly. Then I put it all into a dutch oven, sprinkled it with the onion soup, covered the pieces with coke, and put a tight lid on it to bake. It was a huge hit with the family! The chicken was fabulous and tender, and the sauce needed no thickening and was really nice!

My husband and I debated about how many stars to give, but in the end, since he cooked it, I went with his opinion. It's a good dish, the meat is so tender that it falls off the bone and you can cut it with a fork. However, it came out just kind of bland, and (personal taste here) a little too salty and a little too sweet. The kids liked it more than we did, so we will try it again, but I think next time instead of the onion soup we will try sauteeing chopped onions and using low-sodium chicken broth in addition to some herbs — sage or rosemary or something — along with the coke. We used Akikobay's technique modification, since we too don't like cornstarch sauces, but ended up reducing the sauce slightly anyway once the chicken was done. Definitely will try adding onion and either chicken or beef stock next time for additional flavor with less salt.
