These beans are both simple to make and wonderful to eat! I followed your recipe and directions to a "t" and can't say there is anything I would change. I wondered if maybe there might be too much garlic — but it was perfect. The addition of the cumin and chili powder really boosted the flavor. And the lime juice just made the beans and spices come together. Thanks for posting the recipe.

Quick and easy! I added a little more water cause they started to dry out, otherwise no changes. Will make again. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Awesome! I used bacon fat & added a few strips of bacon along with the garlic. Then I chopped up the bacon in the food processor & added them back in with the smashed beans. These were perfect for my chimichangas! Thank you!

These refried beans are excellent. They have just the right combination of spices, extremely easy to make and the lime juice just puts it over the top. Love this stuff.

I avoid refried beans in Mexican Restaurants as I am always suspicious as to what kind of fat and the amount of salt they are using. The same goes for the canned variety. THESE are wonderful and so easy to make. I think the lime at the end really makes these beans pop! We used them with some cooked brown rice, shredded reduced fat 4 cheese mexican mix, chopped tomatoes and salsa wrapped in a low-carb tortilla. I only used 1 tablespoon canola oil and extra garlic. Thanks so much for posting.

These were really delicious, as well as simple to make. I thought they tasted better with pinto beans than with black beans.

These were so much better than canned refried beans and they did not take much time to throw together. I used one can of plain pinto beans and one can of pinto beans with jalapeno. The fresh lime is a wonderful touch! This will replace canned refried beans from now on.

I quickly threw together these beans to go with dinner the other night and they were perfect. I didn't have a long time to cook them so didn't smash the beans very much, but it didn't matter because the seasonings were just right. I will use this again.
