68 Reviews of Eggnog Cookies

From: Ruby Toozday

These cookies are AWESOME!!! They are now a permanent part of our Christmas traditions! My suggestions: Be very careful to not over-mix, and we prefer to sprinkle them with cinnamon (or cinnamon sugar!) rather than nutmeg. Our favorite topping though is Eggnog Icing (1 1/2 cups powdered sugar and 3 T. eggnog mixed slowly together... before it hardens, sprinkle with either nutmeg or cinnamon lightly). With the icing, cookies are slightly sweeter and have more eggnog flavor.

I cut the recipe in half but still accidently used 2 egg yolks. I also used half butter, half margerine, and kept the cinnamon the same (I like cinnamon). Still tasted excellent. I found that it was more difficult to remove the cookies from the sheet the cooler they got. I don't know if it is from my inexperience/ineptitude as a baker, or if it is b/c the cookie sheets i use are rather old (yeah, that's it... blame the cookware ). Anyway, excellent cookies, even my chocolate-loving family likes them.

Two years later, I had to come back and re-review these cookies because of the memory of their wonderful flavor! I used Pumpkinhead's method with a #40 cookie scoop to make them round and sprinkled them with a "pinch" of red and green sugar to make them festive. My kids ate so many, I had to make a second batch for my church's cookie exchange! Marvelous! Thanks RecipeNut.

These are a great cookie for eggnog lovers! They were very easy to throw together and turned out very tasty. The house truly did smell great as they were baking. I made no changes to the recipe and can think of no changes that need to be made. Thanks for a great recipe, RecipeNut!

I thought these had a good flavor but a bit too much nutmeg. I would cut it to 1/2 tsp rather than the full tsp. and maybe increase the cinnamon instead but were very good if you love eggnog!

These were ok, not quite the full eggnog flavor we were looking for. They certainly disappeared quickly enough though! I made an icing to drizzle over top with eggnog so I sprinkled more nutmeg on top of that. We really liked that variation.

These are so tasty and so simple and the smell when you are cooking them will drive you crazy! Made them for my cookies exchange, the only thing I did differently was use a cookie scoop so they ended up beautiful and round. thanks for sharing

These cookies are quite tasty. The dough was easy to work with and after being in the fridge for about 20 minutes, it was even easier to make the little dough balls. I can definitely taste the eggnog, although one friend who tried them said he couldn't really. The bottoms of the cookies stuck to one of the cookie sheets I was using but it was kind of an old baking sheet so I think that was the problem. Greasing them with a cooking spray seemed to help. If I make this recipe again I might add more spice for a more eggnoggy flavor and perhaps a little bit of eggnog glaze. Thanks for the tasty recipe!

If you like eggnog then this recipe is for you! They were absolutely delicious, and stayed soft the way I like my cookies. These will be a new holiday tradition!

This recipe was so easy, and smelled great when baking. My kids ate the first batch before they even made it to the cookie jar!
