Perfect turkey with this brine! I left out the oranges (didn't have any) and used rosemary and savory for the herbs, plus some chopped onion. I got a 5-gallon bucket from the grocery store bakery to brine the turkey in. It worked perfect. I dumped in a bag of ice, put the lid on, and left it in the garage overnight. Thanks for a great recipe!

This deserves more then 5 stars! It is outstanding! I did not change a thing I made it EXACTLY as the recipe is written. I did how ever make 2 1/4 gallons of it so adjusted accordingly. Nothing but rave reviews at my house All my boys ate it from big to small. The flavor is so incredible every bit is just FULL of flavor no gravy necessary (unless you want some). Just prefect.

Fantastic Brine I didn't boil it as to the fact we had nothing big enough to boil it in. We had put all the makings in a big home depot bucket and left it in the snow for two days... only bringing in when it was too cold! It was the BEST TURKEY my family has ever had.

This was truly great! I made it for our big family Thanksgiving, and everyone raved. I used sherry and butter to baste the turkey and it was the moistest, best tasting turkey we have had in years. Thanks for posting!!

WOW!!! Drippings made a great gravy. 6 tbsp flour dissolved in a ladle of drippings. Put in a pot on medium heat and gradually add in about 3-4 cups drippings. Whisk continually until it comes to a boil. Set time and whisk 2 additional minutes or until thick. Phenomenal!

This was "the best turkey I've ever had" according to the folks who were here for it. I did a 30 lb turkey for 52 people. I used Brined and Roasted Thanksgiving Turkey With Simple Gravy to cook the turkey and make the gravy, and New England Sausage, Apple and Dried Cranberry Stuffing for stuffing, which I cooked separately from the bird.

I forgot to review this before now. This brine is fantastic! I had never brined a turkey before and this came out so flavorful and juicy and tender. I will never do another turkey without brining first. Excellent recipe!

This was my first attempt at using a brine. WOW! The Aroma is awesome! It did come out moist and tender. I would have preferred more flavor internally though. Seems so hard to get that internal flavor in turkey and chicken. I am giving this 5 stars because the scent of the brine is fabulous and the gravy made from the drippings is amazing. I even had many comments on how good the gravy was. I think the turkey needed an injector for flavor for me personally though. I may try to inject the brine the next time as well???? I did use a bucket as others mentioned for the overnight process. Thank you for the great recipe.

This recipe is AWESOME. This is the first time I ever brined a turkey. The turkey came out so tender and moist. The flavor was outstanding. I will always use this recipe for my turkeys from now on. I plan on trying it with chicken soon. I would give this more stars if I could. Thanks for creating a new Thanksgiving tradition in our home! I won't even bother with all the other brine recipes I found...why mess with perfection!
