this was the leanest corned beef i have ever made, i used a 6 qt crockpot, layered the bottom with the sliced onion, 10 med red potatoes, halved, unpeeled, 2 handfuls of baby carrots, put a 4 lb corned beef atop, doubled the broth mix and i could barely shut it, but a few hours the kitchen smelled wonderful. after hours i turned the beef over and added the cabbage This wonderful meal was devoured, the full house and extras loved it!

Absolutely wonderful! I had to cut this recipe to half because there's no way a whole recipe would ever fit in my 5 quart crockpot! I used canned low sodium, low fat beef broth instead of the beef bouillion, omitted the celery (since we don't like celery) and used 2 cloves of garlic because we love garlic. I kept everything else the same. I took it over to my mother's & plugged it in to cook while we were running around all day & boy, the wonderful smell when we walked in! The taste was even better! My mother had 3 helpings & my husband just ooh'd & aah'd through the whole thing. GREAT recipe that I'll definitely make again. Thanks!

Smelled just as delicious as it tasted! Even though I'm not one bit Irish, I love corned beef and cabbage, so I make it any time of year.... not just St. Patty's Day. I put in the caraway seeds and cabbage right in the beginning and it turned out wonderfully. I'l be making this again. Thanx for a great hot meal on a cold day!

This was my very first corned beef I ever made. I made on St. Patrick's day for company and everone LOVED it! The potatoes came out wonderful!! We also made reubens out of some of the corned beef. I made a point of telling everyone "DON'T EAT THE CARROTS!!" It was a very fun evening! Thanks!

Good, quick to prepare and a really wonderful combination of flavours that was loved by my guests! If I was just cooking for for personal taste next time I'd probably use 1/2 cup each of water and bouillon, the salt in the corned meat plus the bouillon was getting towards the upper limit of the saltiness I enjoy and personally I would have liked a little less, but I was assured by others it was perfect so stuck with the majority 5 star rating.

This is excellent. A whole meal in the crockpot. Very quick and easy to put together with wonderful results. I love the caraway seeds on top of the cabbage. This is a recipe I will use often. I served with JanS mustard sauce #21617.

This recipe was so good I have already made it twice in less than a month and Im going to make it again this St. Pattys day. The only additional thing I did was to combine some sourcream, A1 steak sauce, garlic powder and salt and pepper to eat with the corned beef. Way to go Derf!!!!

Yummy Corned Beef recipe! Everyone cleaned their plates and asked for more. I followed exact except I switched the bouillon to canned beef broth and I did not add the cabbage at the end. Cooked for a full 10 hours on low. What great flavor and tenderness. A great way to make your entire dinner in one pot! I served this with fresh baked bread for a complete, comfort meal.

DH brought home some corned beef (which I've never made before) so I tried this recipe. I couldn't find any small cabbages so I tried one large one instead. Very tasty, I had been half expecting to hate corned beef and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks

This cooking method for corned beef worked perfectly for me on a busy St. Patty's Day. I came away with a very lean, but still tender and juicy brisket. I did omit the celery, as I didn't have any on hand and used a low sodium beef broth. Last minute guests joined us, and this recipe did not let me down.
