37 Reviews of Lotion for Dry Skin

Please do not take too much of the previous posters comments to heart...almost all lotions on the market (with the exception of a specific sum) contain some form or petroleum (petrolatum etc). I can't speak for all lotions, but I've used quite a few that did my skin a lot of good and they did contain petroleum or petroleum products. Second, oxidation is not good. The process of oxidation creates free radicals and free radicals are what prematurely age the skin and the body. That is why physicians and dieticians are always pushing the comsumption of antioxidants (anti....). The most important reason to not take their post to heart is that no one formula works for everyone. Hazelnut oil might work fantastically for DEEP, but might cause my skin to break out or have an allergic reaction. A nice comment about petroleum facts might have been appreciated, but blasting your negative opinion where it's not wanted is not appreciated.

I love this lotion!! I have been making this for several years and it works wonders for my very dry skin. I use vitamin E cream instead of lotion, and the amount of petroleum jelly I use is 8 oz. Also, I heat the petroleum jelly in the microwave until it is slightly soft, NOT melted. It just makes it easier to mix together. This makes a large batch and the nice thing is, all of the ingredients can be bought at your local $1.00 store.

Mine turned out so fluffy! I used 1 15-oz. bottle of store brand baby lotion, 2 jars of vitamin e cream and a 3.75 oz. container of vaseline. I found a less messy way to mix this up. I lined a large margarine tub with a gallon size zip top freezer bag, put all the ingredients in the bag, zipped it while trying to get as much air out as possible, then worked it with my hands to mix it up. then just snip (very small snip) a corner and "pipe" the lotion into whatever type container you will be storing this in. Like another reviewer, I also microwaved the vaseline to soften, plus I put the baby lotion upside down in some very hot water to make it easier to get out of the bottle. Hope this helps!

This is THE BEST! They didn't have the Vitamin E cream where I bought my ingredients, so I bought the Vit. E gel instead and it was still awesome! I only made a half batch (which is plenty!), My dry cracked heels looked almost completely rehydrated in only 1 day! This will be my lotion of choice from now on! Thank you so much for sharing this!

THE BEST, bar none! I used vitamin E cream, approx 4 oz vaseline and Johnson's baby lotion. Also used the microwave & ziplock baggie method: very easy. Makes alot but everyone at work is dipping into MY lotion! I've given the recipe to all of them, but a FYI.....one gal used $1 store baby lotion and her product didnt turn out as nice as mine.

I have used this lotion many times over it is great. Everyone should be thanking babygirl65 for posting. I am a nurse and doctors prescribe petroleum jelly for extra dry skin aqll the time. If some people wqould look on a bottle of oil of olay bath soap (which on average cost $6 a bottle) they would see that petroleum is the 2nd ingredient, so before anyone downs this get the facts straight and don't try to detour people that could benefit

I have worked in the medical field for 25 years. I have encountered hundreds of people. Whenever I see an elderly person with soft, wrinkle free skin I asked what lotion they use and they always answer the same way; I use petroleum jelly. It is a great skin protectant and softener. I havn't used this lotion yet but I will be making it.

It is a little messy to make, but the finished product sure feels nice on my dry skin. The baby smell is nice. Thanks for posting this.

Love this stuff. I made this for PAC fall 2006. I made it just as posted although there was no amount for the petrolium jelly. I used about 3 1/2 ounces. My hands are happy and soft I didn't take a picture this time..hard to photograph. Barbara

I have been using this lotion now for about a year after receiving it from my ARNP. It is far superior to any product I have ever purchased at a specialty store. What a great lotion!
