5 Reviews of Hawaiian Meatballs

From: Rachie P

On Dec 29, 2006

These were a hit at our luau! I cheated and used pre-made, frozen meatballs. I threw everything but the cornstarch in a crock pot and slow-cooked it for about 4 hours and they came out marvelous! I am not even a meatball fan and I loved these! My DH says I can make these anytime! Thanks so much.

I made these for a company party, and man, they were a hit! I could not believe how well people liked them. I do not like to make meatballs from scratch, so I bought two bags of frozen Armour meatballs (not Italian-style) and thawed them overnight in the fridge. Then I made the sauce as directed. I put the thawed meatballs in the crock pot, poured over the sauce, and simmered it on low for about an hour. This was very easy - it took about 15 minutes to make the sauce, and that was all the work there was to it. People RAVED about how good this sauce is, and I have to agree. This is a new favorite and I will definitely be serving it at my Hawaiian Murder Mystery party later this summer. Thanks for sharing, Nothern_Reflectionz!

Yummy! I have a very picky husband, but he loved these! I will make this one many more times. I served them over rice. Delicious!

This dish was good, but just a little too sweet to our taste. I think next time I make it, I'll halve the brown sugar and see what happens. (I will be making it again though!)

Like other reviewers, I used frozen meatballs (it was for a potluck, so anything to make my life easier). Just thawed them and prepared the sauce as instructed. Then put it all in a crockpot on high for about an hour and then low for a couple more hours. Turned out great. The sauce was much better I thought it would be actually. I wouldn't normally make something like this but the potluck was Hawaiian in theme. But I'm glad I tried it.
