10 Reviews of Creamy Breakfast Oatmeal (Rice Cooker)

I also use The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook. This is SO INCREDIBLE and CONVENIENT! I make the recipe for the plain steel cut oatmeal cereal. I use 3 cups water to 1 cup oats and let it sit overnight and in the morning I just start my rice cooker's porridge cycle. By the time I am done getting ready for work, our breakfast oatmeal is done and we each add our different toppings. It's easy then to make a scrambled egg white omlet to go with it. I have a 10 Cup rice cooker.

I bought some steel cut oats at the store yesterday and wasn't sure if I'd like them. I've never had them before so I decided to try this recipe because it sounded so good. I only used 1 1/2 cups of milk because I like my oatmeal with a thicker consistency and used a sugar substitute for the maple syrup. I also used raisins that I added with all the other ingredients so they'd plump up This turned out so great! I used my small Salton rice cooker and this was the perfect amount for it to cook. The oatmeal was done when it's cycle was over (it only has an on-off switch). Anyway, this turned out awesome thank you duonyte!

I LOVE THIS RECIPE! I used dried cranberries in place of the dates. Otherwise, follow exactly (STEEL CUT OATS!!!!!) as presented, and just wait! It was wonderful, Duonyte!

I served this as part of a breakfast buffet before Thanksgiving. Guests loved it and ate almost all of it. I left out the syrup and dates so everyone could add their own mix-ins. Made this is a 5.5 cup cooker and subbed some of the milk for water as it was very creamy.

great recipe! Healthy, delicious and easy. I already love steel cut oats but making them in a rice cooker is so much easier. I used sugar free pancake syrup and mixed frozen mixed berries in after the oats were finished. The berries defrost and warm up and taste amazing with the oats. I imagine I'll be making this at least once a week.

This is my favorite oatmeal recipe ever. Creamy and wonderful. sometimes I use golden raisins instead of dates. I'm sure any dried fruit will work well.

I find that if I increase the milk to 2 cups, I get the creamier texture I like. I also substituted half raisins, half craisins But overall, I really like this recipe!

The was very good! My first time eating steel oats. I didn't have any milk, and didn't read the part at the bottom about using soy milk, but used water, and it was still very good. I added craisins and a little bit of flax seed. I practically ate it all....darn would have liked some to take to work tomorrow!

I love being able to cook oatmeal in the rice cooker! I found that this was a little too thick for me as written, next time I'll add a bit more milk, as a another reviewer suggested. Thanks for posting!

Unfortunately I only had old-fashioned oatmeal but I found it delicious just the same.I snipped some dried apricots instead of dates and it was lovely.I made the mistake of letting it cook longer than 10 minutes so it overflowed a bit but that did'nt detract from the recipe at all.
