I used a 5-lb. bottom round,a bottle of dark Mexican beer, and added a large thinly sliced onion to the mix. After cooking on low heat in my crockpot for 10 hours, the shredding was easy. I mixed some liquid smoke in with the (hickory)bbq sauce and honey. This was a great recipe...makes a yummy sandwich on a kaiser roll. I froze portions that were leftover.

Easy and great! I used a can of Coca Cola instead of Beer. The family devoured it. I had a more complicated version of this recipe and that version just went in the trash. I am all about simple and delicious! Thanks! I just wanted to add that I also use a pork roast (shoulder or butt) and dr.pepper. To die for!

this was a great EASY dish. i used my own homemade barbeque sauce and added two cloves of garlic-but i think erins version would have been just as good. the honey really adds to the great flavor. the meat was sooo tender and just fell apart- great on kiaser rolls with potato salad and some greens. thanks erin!!!

Mmmmmmm...this was SO yummy! I used a pork roast becuse I did not have a beef roast and it was delicious. Tasted just like "pulled pork" in a restaurant. Excellent!

Great recipe, and so easy-i used a two and a half pound roast(thats all that they had)it turned out fine-cooked it for ten hours and shredded perfectly. A wonderful meal when you want BBQ but dont want to "fire up the pit"served it on hamburger buns with pickles and a little extra sauce and loaded baked potato salad
great meal!PeggyLynn

Could not be easier. I started this recipe last night and added the sauce this morning for a delicious lunch. What a carefree recipe. Great for picnics and potlucks. I had some cole slaw in the sandwich for extra crunch.

This was great! I was a bit nervous as it was cooking. The meat simmering in the beer does not produce an appetizing scent (reminded me of the basement of my fraternity house in July.) The results, however, were wonderful. I used Jack Daniels bbq sauce and a big can of Foster's beer (it was the only kind my local store sold individually.) Thanks for a great recipe.

Didn't have the beer but turned out great anyway. Added a packet of dry italian dressing to the roast while it was cooking for extra flavor. My 8yr old had seconds so that was high praise indeed!

Miss Erin, this recipe turned my urban dwelling into a backyard country BBQ! Served with farm fresh corn, garden tomatoes and home-grown potatoes with chives. As my friend put it "this BBQ has transported me to Yummyville" I did not have any beer on hand so I used dry white wine instead. I sliced up half of a vidalia onion and threw it in as well. This was incredible. With no place to grill, this recipe was a real treat! Thanks so much for a wonderful dinner

Delicious and easy what more can you ask for? I made it with pork as suggested in a review and it was very good, not too spicy not too mild. I made a pork shoulder that was just over 5 lbs, pretty much doubled everything but he cooking time was fine. Will definitely make this again and again.
