We have just eaten this as a lovely light dinner! So easy to make too! I marinated for a lot longer than an hour and left the cucumber out of the sauce, added some garlic and lemon juice, and used greek style yoghurt. We made our pitas with lettuce and tomato as well as onion - delicious! Thanks for posting!

The chicken flavor from the marinade was delicious, and the meat was so tender. The taste of these gyros is really fresh and nice. My only suggestion for improvement is to thicken the sauce - it turned out pretty runny for me. Next time I'll let the yogurt drain through cheese cloth overnight to thicken it up (or try to find the really thick Greek yogurt). I'll also seed the cucumbers first, and squeeze all the liquid from them before adding to the sauce. Great, easy weeknight meal. Thanks mama's kitchen.

Wow! These were great! I marinated my chicken all day and the favor was wonderful! My cucumber sauce didn't turn out exactly as I expected - it was a little runny and didn't taste quite like I thought it would. (Most likely as a result of something I did wrong!) I added 4 table spoons of reduced fat sour cream and it helped the "runny" problem and added that bit of zip I was looking for! Thanks, Mama - we really enjoyed it! Will be making again soon!

Excellent! This marinade would be good for a lot of purposes - kabobs or just on the grill - it was really tasty. I tripled the sauce (since I had to buy 1 c. of yogurt anyway) and almost used it all. I like a lot of sauce and don't think the amt. the recipe calls for would have been enough for me. I also added a few chopped onions to the sauce. I will definitely be making this one again.

This was so fast to whip up and so easy to assemble! I used fresh oregano and added some lemon to the sauce, but otherwise followed your easy instructions! They were beautiful to look at and tasted divine. Next time I may add some fresh mint to the tzatziki but wouldn't change a thing with the marinade! Thank you mama!!!

We had this for lunch today...FANTASTIC!! I cheated and used leftover Greek Chicken from last night's meal..but heated it up in the marinade you listed here!! Great stuff!! I used green onions instead of red and chopped up my tomato and added it to the tzatziki! Thanks again Mama!!

OMGosh! This chicken is soooo delicious! I grilled it after marinading and it was outstanding. The only thing I added different than your recipe was some salt in the marinade, the yogurt sauce and a little sprinkle after grilling. I used home made pitas called Olga Bread that a local restaurant uses (love it!). I loved the cucumber/yogurt sauce too. A great dinner for a Saturday night.

This is really good. Only thing I did differently is add salt/pepper to both the marinade and the sauce. Serve on flat bread. It was enjoyed by all. Thanks!

Was searching for an old recipe of mama's kitchen I made a while ago (before ZWT 2007 started) and couldn't find it, so I picked this one out from her recipe list. Since I couldn't find substitute chicken strips at the market that day, I decided to use steak strips instead. If I thought the lemon was going to taste odd with steak strips, I was wrong. These were utterly delicious! I left out the red onion for the sake of my BF, and reduced the amount of oil for the sake of my waist. I used Greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt and whole wheat pita bread. The lemon juice got absorbed by the steak and made it nice and tangy. The cucumbers didn't seem to affect the yogurt either. BF liked this a lot too. Thanks for another great recipe!
