10 Reviews of Sautéed Green Apples and Leeks

The recipe iswonderfult the way it is - the leeks & apples compliment each other and no other flavor is needed. Quick & easy to make too. Because I cut the leeks quite fine I did not saute them ahead of the apples but did both together. They were perfect. I served them with rice, meatballs, new baby carrots & salsa. This recipe would be perfect with a pork roast or ham. Thanks toni for sharing this tasty recipe and adding a new vegetable combination for me to enjoy

A vegetable taste sensation! And so simple to make. I'll be making this often. I do hope that you've tried this one by now, toni! I followed your suggestion of adding some sage, and I also added 2 cloves of minced garlic (with the leeks) and in step 4, on a sudden whim, I added a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of brown sugar. Thanks for sharing this most unusual and fabulous recipe, one I'll keep in mind for dinner parties. It would go so well with any meat dishes, especially pork dishes.

We like apples, onions and cabbage together, but I'd never thought about combining apples and leeks before. This made a really nice change. A recipe that I'll repeat.

I love Granny Smiths and I love leeks. I knew as soon as I saw this recipe it would be good and it was. I cooked the leeks longer to get that nice crispiness. The apples were so delicious cooked in the pan with the margarine and leeks. When it was time to . place the leeks back in the pan with the apples I gently pressed down with the back of a spatula and the apples and leeks became crispy that way. MMmmm!! Forgot the sage and I really wanted to try it with this. Next time... Thanks for posting. CG

Oh so easy & YUMMY!! Light & delicious & great for fall. My 5y.o. dd claims to hate leeks so I told her this was "apples & onions" (that always makes me think of Farmer Boy) & she LOVED it!! Thanks!!

Superb! So simple and so easy! I loved it! The sweetness and tartness of the apples worked so well against the oniony savory flavor of the leeks! Great low fat low cal side! Thanks Toni

Very tasty! I used one granny smith apple and one gala apple. It was simple and quick to make. I used a lot more butter than called for, because I misread the recipe. I think it would still taste great with the amount of butter in the recipe. Reviewed for ZWT 4, 2008.

Delicious! I took your suggestion to heart and added some fresh sage. I sauteed in butter and added some garlic with the leeks. This is a lovely accompaniment to a roast. Thanks, Toni!

Good taste but I thought that leeks were a little too chewy. Not sure I'll make it again.
