Looks like a great copycat - and as a regular In 'N' Out customer, I can say with authority that their secret sauce /does/ have chunks, so I'll have to disagree with ketchupqueen on her view. My only recommendation: grill the onions for a great In 'N' Out alternative burger which they do make in the restaurants. Yummy!

I would recommend mixing your own ketchup, mayo, and a dash of pickle juice for their "secret sauce"; Thousand Island has chunks, and a Double Double shouldn't. But other than that, thanks for what looks like a good copycat, making the In 'N' Out experience more accessible to those without access to In 'N' Out!

Awesome. My SS and I had fun making these. However, I made homemade sourdough buns that turned out huge and we had to eat them in layers, the bottom burger with the bottom bun and the top burger with the top bun. It was not a pretty site. LOL. But the flavor of this is just great. I didn't change a thing. Used Kree's The Edgewood Resort's Thousand Island Dressing which was excellent. Thanks for a winner with my family.

My DH just loved this burger! I made up my own Thousand Island with mayonnaise, relish, and ketchup. Thanks for posting!

I have never had a chance to visit an In-N-Out to actually get a Double Double but what I did make at home was FABULOUS! It really had that 'burger joint' taste and feel-and with fresh ingredients to boot! Even my pickiest child loved hers (w/out the tomato and onions of course). The only change I made was to use homemade thousand Island dressing which is a really minor substitution-thanks for posting...we love it!
