These sure caused quite a commotion at the Halloween party! Everyone loved the looks and flavor of these cookies. I made a few adaptations like substituting sliced almonds for nails and adding slivered almonds for a bone sticking out of the other end of the finger. I also omitted the egg wash and food coloring, but added red gel icing for an erie "garnish". These are fun for kids to help with; keep in mind to roll them thin, as they will spread and flatten a little while baking. Thanks for a great party recipe!

    What a great recipe! Spooky-looking! I used sliced almonds because that was what I had on hand, and they worked great! These are tasty too! Thanks!--I also wanted to add that I love the effect that the egg-wash gave them...gave them a nice hint of 'decomposing' yellow!

    Presentation wise - these were very creepy looking and attention grabbing, which is why I gave this a 4 star. Taste wise - I thought they were rather bland. They just didn't have much flavor to me. When rolling them out, be sure to make them thinner than you think cause the spread out quite a bit. I ended up with fat fingers! I used sliced almonds and only dyed half of them. The uncolored ones looked creepier than the red ones. All in all - everyone loved how they looked, but I had a lot left over at the end of the night. They just didn't taste that great.

    This was so fun! My teenage daughters were grossed out but loved every minute of it. I used purple Wilton food color for the nails which came out very dark and made the nails look like they were rotting. Make sure you watch the time and use parchment paper or silpat. My daughters will take these to a sleep over tonight! Thanks, KCShell

    These definately looked cool, and tasted pretty okay as well. Although, I did not paint the almond red for the nails, I left it plain, and took a red gel icing and used it around the nail and and the stump of the finger, made it look actually severed.

    I made these for our neighborhood Halloween Party. They looked so awesome. I used dyed peanuts instead of almonds. Next time I am going to dye the batter green to make them more goblin like. When I platted them I then drizzled red frosting over the plates to make it look like blood splatter. Easy, but looks so awesome.

    These cookies are spook-tacular! My mother and I made a batch for a family Halloween party, and they were such a huge hit we ended up making 2 more batches the following night for her to take to work! Everyone who had the cookies thought they looked and tasted spectacular. We added almond extract and it gave them a fantastic flvaor. I don't think they would have been quite as tasty without it. We also used all-purpose flour, because that's what the recipe said when we printed it out, and they came out great. Finally, we used sliced almonds, and they made fantastic fingernails. I love this recipe!!

    These were good! I added almond extract as suggested - yummy! They were a little soft for me, though. Next time I'm going to put two pretzel sticks inside each cookie as finger bones so that they crunch when you bite in to them!

    My daughter and I enjoyed making these yesterday. As everyone has said - roll them really thin and it IS worth removing the tray from the oven a couple of minutes early, pressing them into shape and then returning them to the oven. we dipped the 'severed' ends into red icing. Taste was nice - especially with the addition of the almond extract.

    I loved these spooky treats! I used pure vanilla ( the good stuff) and doubled it to 1/2 tsp. and they were very tasty. I shaped the mishappen fingers with some really gnarled knuckles then added just a touch of green food coloring into the egg white wash for a better Wicked Witch of the West hue. When they were baked and cooled, I dipped the "severed" ends into blood red frosting...These cookies ended up grossing out several adults but the kids sure liked them.... =) (Bet they'd be great at keeping one of my witch SILs home! "Ewwww...THAT's DIS-Gusting!" lol)
