We really liked the creamy apple filling, and crunchy cinnamon topping. The only thing I will do different is to increase the amount of the filling by half to use three cups apples for a fuller pie. I'll make this again.

I made this apple pie with hesitation, as people always flip over my traditional apple pie. No need to worry though, actually dh said he ironically prefers this one. He said the cream layer really sets it off. I used pink lady apples, probably at least an extra cup of them, and added no additional sugar. Cooking time was about 2-3 minutes short of the 40 and 15 stated in the recipe, respectively and it came out perfect. Thanks Leslie for an enjoyable twist on the traditional.

mmm..*licks lips* yum! This is good! I increased the apples to 6 cups and the sugar to 1 cup. I also added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the filling. I cannot imagine an apple pie without cinnamon. Of course, I also added some cinnamon to the topping, as per the recipe. Thanks, Leslie!! Chef Judi Coleman

I was hesitant to try this recipe because my husband and kids hate sour cream. I made a traditional apple pie and then changed my mind. After all, I LOVE sour cream, so I decided to do your version. I blended one egg and the sour cream and poured it over the pie filling. Then, I sprinkled the topping over it, with the addition of one packet of french vanilla instant oatmeal (at the suggestion of another reviewer-for the added crunch). I baked the whole thing for 40 mins. It ended up being SUPERB! If I must say so myself, I make great pie, but this was probably the best pie I have EVER made. The sour cream layer sits on top and tastes like an italian cheesecake. The crumb topping is crunchy and super sweet. The apple pie layer is like traditional comfort food.

Really glad I made this for the ZWT II. It was really special and different. My DH says it's the best apple pie he ever had. He liked the creamy filling. I made my pie in a 9" dish and it seems a bit taller than the other pictures posted.Like Pan Nan I will increase the amount of apples next time. I would not recommend cutting the apples too thin, they will soften too much. I used a very thin sour cream, next time will try a thicker sour cream and see if it does anything different. This has been one of our favorites of the ZWT II so far!!

This was awesome. I love Apple Pie and I love ANYTHING that is creamy so this was a great combo for my tastes. I used two extra cups of apples though as we like a loaded pie and added an extra 1/4 cup sugar to adjust that also. But this was a wonderful twist on traditional American style Apple pie which I WILL make again.

Made this a while ago and forgot to review it! But I do remember that it was fabulous! Just enough different from a regular apple pie, but still satisfied those who love the old-fashioned variety. I think the sour cream along with the crumbly topping is what sets it apart! I don't make pies often, but I will certainly make this one when I do!

DH really likes this pie! I guess I prefer the apples less mushy... Did I cook them too long?? (the boiling process)?? It was easy to put together. I know DH will be requesting this again Thanks Leslie.

The topping makes this pie! With the creamy apples and crunchy topping, this is a different, delicious take on the classic apple pie. We like it a lot. Thanks!
