7 Reviews of Matcha Green Tea Smoothie or Iced Latte

From: Born2cook

On Jan 6, 2007

WOW - on a whim I bought this matcha green tea powder on our favorite auction web sight and when it came I was so glad I did. This drink is amazing - so refreshing. I prefer the Iced Latte to the Smoothie. I leave out the sugar and use one Tablespoon of the vanilla syrup. Try it - you won't be disappointed - and all the health benefits! Where can I get more recipes? Thanks.

Great recipe. I have a few changes that I do for a smoothie type...use fat free soy or milk based frozen yogurt. It gives it a nice creamy effect. You will then not need the sugar. I usually just eyeball the tea powder (also from online auction), add the yogurt, ice cubes, and a splash of vanilla (not syrup)...just a little bit of a change. Great healthy desert.

Wonderful and great as a latte for the blender-deprived. I really like the fact that I can control the amount of sweetness...sometimes the stuff from the green mermaid store is just way too sweet and creamy for a warm day. Don't skimp on the vanilla syrup, I think it adds a lot, I prefer to just reduce the sugar if it's too sweet.

Yummo! I love Matcha Green tea, and this was a real treat I used Shizuoka Matcha, with splenda for the sweetner, and skim milk. Thanks for sharing. Nick's Mom

This is a very awesome recipe! Thanks for posting. I like my latte a bit milkier so I made this with 1 oz water, 5 oz 2% milk. I also used 2 tsp of sugar and one pump melon syrup. Lots of ice. Much better green tea quality and cheaper than getting it at the store plus I can control the amount of sugar and I think the overall volume is just right.

I love this recipe! I was sick of spending $5 on the coffee shop version. I made my own vanilla syrup (site will be listed below.) and purchased the Matcha online. The Matcha I got is great quality and a lot less pricy then others I found. I might leave out the sugar next time though. The vanilla syrup is a lot of sugar already. I found that the recipe calls for too many ice cubes — I suggest to others to add them to the blender one at a time to ensure you don't get an unblendable mush like I did.
