Oh my goodness Kitten, these were fabulous!!!! We got the great take-out Chinese flavor with just a little effort and for a lot less money! I LOVE the batter...it was perfect!! I used The Best Sweet and Sour Sauce-The Best Sweet and Sour Sauce to serve with these and it was a fantastic meal! Thanks so much for the super yummy recipe Kitten!

The batter on these was FABULOUS. It was SO THICK and puffed up really nicely! I used the batter on pork strips and didn't make the sauce recipe, but I hope to next time. Short on ingredients! I have used many recipes for chicken balls and I'm NEVER happy with the batter. Kittencal, you're my hero! :D These were so perfect, even though I didn't use chicken. Thank you!

Great recipe! The batter is nice & light and the sauce is awesome. I used 1 1/2 cups of Splenda instead of 3 cups of sugar. Will be making this again!

I made this for our dinner tonight and it was wonderful! Tasted just like we had attended a chinese buffet! I made some slight changes in measurement on the sauce I used 1/4 Cup vinegar, 1 cup sugar and 4 tbsp cornstarch (we like it thick) it came out PERFECT! Not too sweet, just the right thickness and not to tangy. And as far as the chicken...it was a super thick batter and it cooked up just like it does at the restaurant...I think next time I will try one of my many marinades to give it a lil taste twist. I will be making this many many more times thanks for posting!

Kitten, I have to say that this is one of the best sweet and sour recipes I have ever tried! (I know it isn't actually a sweet and sour chicken recipe but you sure could make it that way, over rice) I have not had much success in the past finding a good sweet and sour chicken recipe since it is my husbands absolute favorite Chinese dish. But I have to say that yours was right on the money!! Loved it, is all I can say. And oh so easy. I made no changes to the recipe (which is very unusual for me), it was perfect as written. This will be kept as a favorite and I can tell it will be used quite frequently! Thanks so much Kitten for the fabulous recipe. Hugs, Susie

I made this and it was a hit. It definitely wasn't the easiest but certainly not the hardest of any asian dish I've attempted to create. I added broccoli and water chestnuts to the dish. Then slopped it over rice. Next time I'll omit the tomatoes. It was delicious and even the husband helped cook. I've got TONS left over for lunches at work. the other reviews are correct, this batter is AWESOME and it's just like at a chinese restaurant. 1/2 the chicken I dredged in corn flakes after dipping in the batter and the other half I left as the recipe is written. I can't tell you which I liked better. they were both good.

Wow!! The sauce alone is soo delicious. DH said put this recipe into heavy rotation. Recipe great as is I only changed the diced tomatoes to diced fresh ones that had been salted and left for a couple minutes because I didn't have canned ones at the time. the chicken was juicy and turned out exactly like carryout. DH also said no more nuggets without this batter .Thanks Kittencal for another great one!

We thought these were very good. I did not make the sauce, we just used store bought. Just the same, we really enjoyed the flavor. DH thought it tasted just like the local Chinese restaurants. He also suggested using the chicken balls with hot wing sauce to do a "boneless buffalo wing" type appetizer. Thanks for posting!!

I don't know how I could have forgotten to review this. A couple weeks ago I set up a romantic candle lit dinner for my BF and I and did a spread of appetizers. This, by far, was the star. The sauce was PERFECT and the batter was so thick. I love the addition of seasoning salt at the end. SO GOOD! Anyways, I just whipped up another batch of the batter to try on shrimp. Can't wait for dinner.
