This is the best cobbler I've ever eaten, hands down! I was a little worried as I was making it since there didn't seem to be enough batter and I had never used a recipe where you poured sugar water over it before baking. But, it turned out PERFECT. I added a little whipped cream for garnish but this cobbler honestly didn't need a single thing to improve it. It was sweet but not overly so. The cake part was light and flavorful instead of dense or doughy like some cobblers and it had a delicate, crisp crust. We enjoyed it so much I'm buying more peaches to make it again. This recipe goes into my 10 Stars or More cookbook & will be used again and again. Thanks so much for sharing it, countrywife.

I made this using half Granny Smith apples and half peaches, I also added in 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, I used half brown sugar and half white sugar. This really should be called "Perfect" Peach Cobbler, it IS the perfect recipe! This will go into my favorites and I look forward to making this again soon, thanks for sharing countrywife!...Kitten

Great and easy recipe. Made this today with home-canned peaches, added a teeny bit of cinnamon and even less powdered ginger. Melted the butter, since the recipe wasn't clear as to what to do with it. Took the cobbler to work and it was a huge hit. I've been making cobblers for years, and this is the best! Thanks, Country-Wife! I'm updating this review after making it with fabulous fresh peaches. It was excellent, but very different than when made with canned. The only changes to the recipe I made were to use twice the amount of peaches and bake it longer. Give the top time to brown nicely and it will have a very appealing sweet crunch. When made with canned, the cobbler topping was very soft, cakey and rich. The fresh peaches give a dryer result that was great with vanilla ice cream. I preferred this recipe when made with canned peaches.

I made this for a family reunion. Of course my honey had to taste it before we put it out on the table for everyone. He loved it so much he hid it from everyone. He said something this good should be put away just for him . Now I hato make another one just so he can take it to work. SO YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY

Made this 3 hours ago and it is gone!!! Used canned peaches just drained all of the syrup. I honestly didnt think it would come out as good as it did. Thank you for the recipe! Will definitely make again.

Very easy and delicious. (My only suggestion is to melt or at least soften the margarine prior to mixing the ingredients). I made this recipe for a United Way fundraiser/food raffle at my office and this was the first "sell out" item on my department's table! Thank you!

I made this peach cobbler for dessert when I had my daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters over for dinner last week. Since there is just me here, I usually send all the left-overs home with the kids. I did so this time, that is, the leftover meat loaf and veggies, but NOT the cobbler. The next day, my son-in-law called and asked,"Mom, is there any of that cobbler left?" I lied, "No, not even a spoonful". Selfish? Maybe, but, hey I'm old. (Is that a good excuse?) See what you've done? Corrupted me with this recipe!

It made a wonderful cobbler! I too was a little unsure of the sugar water step but everything turned out just great. I doubled the recipe and ran short of fresh peaches so I used about half canned and you couldn't tell. May have been a little on the sweet side because I used canned peaches that had been in syrup though. This is a keeper!

Like Ann S, I used 6 good sized peaches and added a bit of cinnamon. I doubled the cobbler part of the recipe as I felt it was a bit on the scant side. I kept everthing else the same. It turned out perfectly! Your recipe now has a prominent place in my hardcopy cookbook. Every one of my guests took the recipe home with them...I think that's a first! Thank you for posting.

What can I say that hasn't already been said, it is a delicious cobbler, one of the best! I used frozen peaches from last year, I need to use up and am very pleased that I found this recipe. Will be making it again, DH loved it! Good basic recipe to use with other fruits also!! Thanks for posting.
