I used Muir Glen Fire Roasted tomatoes in this. They added a great smoky flavor. We love this recipe.

I too have Better Homes and Gardens Low-Cost Cooking cookbook, but hadn't noticed it either. Good thing you posted the recipe, otherwise it still would be unnoticed. I don't care for green pepper, so used red and I used beef stock instead of water. Served the cheese at the table.

This had a lot more flavor than I expected; DH loved the heartiness of this. I diced in mushrooms I needed to use, added extra garlic, and used brown rice. B/c of the brown rice, I needed about a cup more of water and about 20 min more cooking time. This is a great weeknight staple. I paired with a tossed salad and green beans.

Just excellent. Instead of tomatoes/sauce I used a jar of Ragu. I also added 1 tsp each of basil, thyme, and oregano. Added extra garlic, too. Wonderful dish my whole family enjoyed.

This was a pretty good starting point for future dinners. I felt, as was, it lacked something. It was a little bland, definitely needed more salt to please me, but I like salt. DH thought it needed either some taco-type or chili-type seasoning and also beans would've been good. I sprinkled generously with parmesan and cheddar (and salt and pepper) to give a little more flavor. Overall, I'll be keeping this recipe and tweaking it for my tastes. Thanks.

Bland! Tasted like a near tasteless stuffed bell pepper that was put in a blender. We didn't care for this at all.

Very good - a kid pleaser at my house and very easy to throw together. Perfect for a week night meal. I used ground turkey instead of hamburger and increased the garlic from 1 clove to 3. It needs a little more zip for our tastes, so next time I'll try Rotel tomatoes.

I needed a quick dinner for tonight and this looked good. I made the recipe as written other then I diced my onions up and used beef broth instead of water for a better flavor. I also only added 1/2 teaspoon of salt as one teaspoon seemed like a lot to me. I used brown minute rice as that is all I buy. I topped with cheddar cheese and served. This was a quick and easy dinner to make.

This was really yummy. A very nice weekday meal. Easy to prepare and a great change for ground beef. I totally forgot to add the cheese at the end and it was still good. Will definately make again (with cheese this time). Thanks for posting.

This was absolutely FANTASTIC. Everyone in the family loved it. My teenager ate the leftovers for lunch two days in a row. This will be a staple in my meal time arsenal. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
