21 Reviews of Ceviche Style Shrimp and Avocado Tacos

From: Toni1

On Aug 17, 2006

First I chopped and mixed everything but eh shrimp. Then I sauted my shrimp in butter with some garlic, cilantro and white wine. I then added the drained, warm shrimp to the rest of the mixtured and served it with heated corn tortillas, sour cream and shredded lettuce. My husband and I both loved it. Definitely not enough for 6 people more like 2 0r 3.

Loved, loved, loved this! I only had 2 limes and I think next time I will only use 1 - mine were extra tart, so I added a few tablespoons of tomato sauce to the salad portion tone it down. I sauteed the shrimp in oil with some chili powder, cumin, garlic and 1 chilpotle pepper in adobo sauce (leftover in frig). Served the shrimp hot with the cool salad and WHAT A COMBO! DH and I licked our plates clean! Thanks for posting! We really enjoyed this!

What a taste explosion! I adored this dish! I prepared the shrimp by marinading them in oil, garlic, cumin, and mexican oregano and then seared them in a hot cast iron for about 2 minutes. Superb- and the best dish I have made in weeks. Thanks for this treasure Katie.

Very tasty. I added a some sweet onions to the Seviche. When I built the tacos, I added dash of sour cream and some sliced jalapeneos from a jar. My wife added a bit of colby-jack cheese. We will have these again soon.

This was so incredibly light and fresh! I simply seasoned the shrimp with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, and sauteed them in about a tablespoon of olive oil before adding to the mixture. I served it on whole wheat tortillas in keeping with our new diet. I think I might add some green or spanish onion next time for a little more crunch, but I'm with Potscrubber...this was the best dish I've made in awhile, and it was raved over. Thanks so much for posting!

Awesome recipe!! My fiance is obsessed with this recipe- so much that he wants us to make it for our wedding reception. We add in some finely chopped onion for a little bit of crunch.

This is really one of the best recipes that I have ever acquired on the zaar. I would kindly dissagree with dejan, and say that I enjoyed the avacado, but the taco did have a variety of flavors, and was unique from Guacamole. I would also add that mine turned out, to put it as my wife did "Pretty" as the one in the picture without the beautiful bowl. This is really a great recipe to have as a meal or to serve at a party. If you chopped up the shrimp you could serve with chips. Honestly this could not be easier. I like to cook, but really for those non-cooks who are looking to impress someome try this. It is really healthy too, and cheap if you find shrimp on sale.

I have to admit that this fed two really hungry adults! Loved this recipe and I will definately make it again. I did cook my shrimp with garlic, olive oil, and ancho chili powder to serve it warm. The combination of the warm shrimp with the cool avacado and tomato was fantastic! This recipe was so easy to prepare it is what I would call the perfect "30 minute meal."

The taste of this was not much different from guacamole, just with shrimp added, served on tortillas. Hence the rating. Sorry, a bit disappointing. I guess I was expecting something more. Don't misunderstand; not that it's not tasty, it's just not anything all that special. I agree, by the way, with the servings. It really only did feed two adults.

Made these over the week end & they were FABULOUS! I wouldn't change a thing either. We quickly fried the corn tortillas in corn oil until they were chewy/crunchy. We loved this so much we packed them full & only got six tacos rather than twelve! Thanks for sharing Katie! This is a keeper!
