This was awesome! It will be even better when the weather cools some. Perfect comfort food. I used smoked sausage and threw in some diced onion. Other than the onions, followed the recipe exactly. Very easy and so creamy and delishious! My husband would give this 10 stars if he could. He went on about it for hours after dinner was finished. Thanks for the keeper of a recipe!

So good! I added a few more spuds and there was enough sauce. I also increased the grated cheese to 1 cup. Delicious.

Oh my gosh, this is so good, and my husband loved it too (no small feat). Hardly the best meal for me to have selected on a warm summer day (like today!), but you can't argue with the artery-clogging goodness this dish brings. I used all cheddar cheese, and a bit less butter since I used the fat rendered from the smoked sausage for part of the roux. I used 1 1/2 lbs of baby yukon gold potatoes (unpeeled), and I think next time I'd increase that by 1/2 lb or so. Maybe that's because I used a full pound of cheese... gulp This is going to be great heated up for lunches. Thanks so much!

made as instructed except to halve recipe and add diced onion to sauage in pan. Easy to make and quick. Hubby, who doesn't like anything I make ate the whole pot. So he'd probably give it a 4. I thought the cheese was a bit overwhelming. After a serving, the cheese and potato seemed too thick. maybe next time I'll try a bit less cheese. But overall I would make again

My husband doubled this recipe for a big "guy-gathering" and it went over really well. He substituted frozen cubed hash brown potatoes for the fresh potatoes. He also used diced ham instead of the sausage as this was all we had in the house. We will definitely make again, especially for large gatherings.

This is what defines comfort food for my family. Quick & Easy, THANK YOU! Because my dh is gluten intolerant, I was able to thicken the sauce with 4 TBS of Cornstarch instead of flour. Turned out perfect! By the way, the cheese sauce tastes quite similar to the soup base for O'Charley's Loaded Potato Soup...I wonder if Velveeta is the secret ingredient in that? Wouldn't that be somethin'!

I found this was a great way to use up some bratwurst and various cheese ends I had in the fridge. I added 1/2 tsp of powdered mustard to the cheese sauce and used smoked paprika to dust the top. Thanks.

This was very good. I think I'll add an onion next time. It was very soupy when I took it out of the oven, but it did thicken up as it cooled. Leftovers reheated well and kept their flavor. I'll be making this again- thanks for sharing!
