I had forgotten how good this is. I always called it Toad in a Hole.. I used a Portuguese bun and served it with mixed peppers, potatoes & mushrooms with a bit of Mexican Chorizo on the side . Thanks Chef Kathy for bringing back memories and a darn good brunch

Grew up eating this dish, only Mom fried it in bacon grease. This is much healthier and even though I had to make it myself it was very good. Thanks for the memories!

I liked it. For anyone who likes toast and fried eggs, this version is a little more fun!

I make these all the time when I am in a hurry for something quick for breakfast. Even when I haven't gone to the grocery store I always have at least some eggs and bread! Thanks for sharing!

Toad in the hole it was called for all of us!. You don't need to cut a hole in the bread, if the bread is fresh, just use your knife after it is buttered on the one side and push the bread to two sides, then drop the egg, in the hole. I put the buttered side down in the pan, drop the egg in and then butter the sides. Then it is ready to flip when you want. Kids love to do this recipe!

Excellent recipe. My son made this as his first cooking experience with his Pappa (my Dad). We have always called it Eggs with a Hat because when my father would serve it to us, he would put the little circle on top of the egg yolk. We also butter the bread on one side before we put it in the pan. Glad to see this is posted! Thanks!
