My hubby said,"That was a 5 star meal!". Seriously though, these cakes tast better than at a super fancy restaurant. I felt like I outdid myself! For the sauce, I didn't have capers so I used chopped dill pickles. Also, I coasted the patties with panko. OH MY GOODNESS, they are to die for! I served this ontop a bed of baby spinich salad. Next time I think I might add baby bay shrimp to the salmon mixutre for more texture...

First off, let me begin by saying that these are really delicious, and the sauce is to die for. I used all the ingredients listed, and full fat mayo - FYI. I loved this recipe because it took about 5 minutes to put together. I made the sauce ahead - which you have to do - the flavor is so much better after the sauce sits in the fridge for a while. I tasted it b4 and it was not the same. Also I love 'em because they look so pretty with a dollop of sauce on top, and then placed on a bed of spinach with garlic! AND, as if this weren't convincing enough, they are very filling. I made the 4, thinking dh and I would each eat two - no way! Even dh couldn't finish a second one. The only thing I'd change is maybe double up on the sauce - but then, I am rather piggish!

Halved recipe, used regular mayo and regular saltines, and omitted lemon rind. Enjoyed very much but next time will probably double the amount of sauce...it's wonderful!

I chose not to rate this recipe as I modified it to suit what we had in the fridge...didn't have enough mayo so I used half mayo and half sour cream for the sauce--turned out wonderfully that way, I think sour cream was a good sub. (made some other subs not worth mentioning..) My other comment is that these crisped up even more when re-heated under the broiler the next day! Thank you for posting: great flavor, and I will plan to have enough mayo on hand the next time around.

These were lovely! I chose to make them for Healthy for the Holidays Game in the LF Forum and they were perfect! I did not have crackers so I ran some stove top throught the food processor... these were wonderful and I really liked the caper sauce. Thanks Gayla!

I only made the salmon cake portion of the recipe. I used your Cilantro Lime Tarter Sauce Cilantro-Lime Tartar Sauce instead. (wonderful by the way) This was a new way to make salmon patties for me, but we loved the results. They are crispy, hold together well, and have a nice flavor. You have a winner here. =) Thanks Gayla!

Oh that sauce is just so good! I didn't make the full recipe as I thught I could perhaps exhibit some self-restraint. Ha! I'll be making more of that. The salmon patties were also very good. I used seasoned bread crumbs and they were a bit salty so I won't do that again, but otherwise loved the combination of flavors. Thank you for sharing!

Absolutely delicious. I find myself planning to grill salmon, just so I have leftovers to make these with. The sauce and the patties are both "keepers" in my book. Used bread crumbs in place of crackers, and it worked just fine.

Sorry I forgot to review this recipe.......made it last weekend for my daughter and family. They just loved the salmon cakes and even my GD (who is a vegetarian) scarfed them down. The sauce was so good my daughter ate it with everything on her plate. (She also took home the 3 cakes left..Ha.) Will definitely make this again.........maybe as our favorite salmon cake. The mix did seem to be a little wet at first, but I rolled it in the breadcrumbs, and refrigerated for a few minutes, and had no problem with them falling apart as they cooked.
