26 Reviews of Earl Grey Tea Cookies

From: Tom H.

On Aug 20, 2006

These cookies are magnificent! Buttery, crunchy, and not too sweet. Plus the tea give them a distinct flavor. Our food processor is too small to make all the dough, so I used out stand mixer and thus had to make a few procedural changes to the recipe. First, I combined all the dry ingredients on a large bowl, Second, I creamed the butter on high, just long enough to loosen it up, then I added the vanilla. Third, I slowly added the dry mixture into mixer and mixed on low until combined. Came out great!

i also made these cookies from Real Simple and they turned out unbelivably well. the earl grey taste is pretty subtle, but it's perfect. mine turned out a bit small, so i should have probably made my log quite a bit larger. but, smaller portions are probably better for me anyways...i eat so many!

Fabulous recipe - very, very unique flavor. Made recipe exactly as directed. LOVED being able to put everything in the food processor (practically no cleanup). Dough was a little crumbly, but worked with it like pie crust (i.e., as little as possible) - they have the same melt-in-your mouth buttery flakiness after baking. Now if I could just stop eating them . . . . sigh

I used whole wheat flour in this recipe, and the cookies turned out to be AMAZING! I served these at a tea party, and all of my guests seemed to really like them. This is an absolutely wonderful recipe!

I made these cookies this afternoon just because I was hungry for some sweets. It was really quick putting the dough together (I'm vegan, so I used a non-hydrogenated shortening), although I had a little bit of trouble shaping it into logs. However, I eventually did, and after they baked... MAN! They were delicious! However, I reccomend using tea-bag leaves (as in the recipe) and not loose-leaf tea (as I did). Really good, really fast, and everyone likes 'em!

This makes a nice, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth cookie. I had to cut the recipe in half because my food processor is a small one. This seemed to work out fine, though. The dough was rather crumbly to work with, but I did eventually get it to roll together without adding any extra water. Also, I substituted Splenda for ALL of the sugar in the recipe (the confectioners' sugar, as well). I was worried it might not work, but the cookies came out just fine. I used butter, but I would like to try these with Smart Balance (the kind you can use for baking). When baking, I usually use Smart Balance with good results, but I was out, so I had to use the butter instead. I wish I could say that mine turned out as pretty as those perfectly round ones that are pictured with the recipe, but they didn't! They were delicious, though. A good recipe for something different.

These were reeeeally good! So lemony and light-tasting ... absolutely perfect to have with a cup of tea. I found the dough was very crumbly, and actually ended up adding another tsp of water to the dough ... I had trouble cutting it, but managed to form most of them into shapes resembling circles. Still quite elegant! Great recipe!

I made some yesterday to take to a tea party and the cookies were delicious and well received by others at the tea party. I had to add a bit more water than the recipe called for to get the dough to come together, but other than that everything was fine.
