I love oatmeal, and really liked the different texture & flavor that you get from this recipe than compared to regular oatmeal. I didn't plan ahead, so I mixed this up and just put it right into the oven (no refrigeration overnight). It turned out great. I did use quick oats since it wasn't getting a chance to soak overnight, and did use 1 tsp cinnamon AND 1/2 tsp nutmeg. I also heated up about 2/3 cup milk in the microwave for 30 seconds to pour over my bowl. I even went back for seconds; this is a keeper! UPDATE: I tried this again, using regular oats & soaking overnight. It wasn't as moist this time, so I think I'll go back to quick outs & mixing it up just before baking.

I love recipes that can be made ahead of time and popped into the oven when needed. This oatmeal is delicious!! It goes together quickly with ingredients that I always have on hand and is conveniently made the night before. I used the cinnamon instead of the nutmeg and baked it in an 8"x8" baking pan for 40 mins. It turned out perfect. My family loved this and gave it 2 thumbs up. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe...it is definitely a keeper.

I made this last night to put in the oven this morning's breakfast. The aroma that drifted through the air filled the house with the fragrance of baking oatmeal cookies! I was tempted to add some chopped walnuts and plumped raisins to the mix, but decided not to as I wanted to make the first batch exactly as directed (I used old fashioned oatmeal). This oatmeal is deliciously filling and satisfying. Be sure to add plenty of warmed milk to your oatmeal. You wouldn't serve oatmeal cookies without it
Love it and will definitely make again and again! Thank you so much, Aurora!

Oatmeal is a favorite with our family but, we had never tried baked oatmeal. It was great! The toddlers kept saying "mmmmm yummy!" Only change I made was I didn't refrigerate it overnight, I just prepped it and baked it. Next time I may have to add a bit more milk. The addition of raisins was also a bonus!! Thanks for sharing Aurora!

This is a fantastic recipe. I also use the quick oats and cook immediately. It always turns out and everyone loves it. Using it tomorrow for a church breakfast. (If you want you could also add raisins or dried cranberries)

This was so easy to make and tastes great! It has stored great in the fridge... every morning I've cut out a square, poured milk over it, & microwaved for 1:30. Thanks!

This was really good and easy to make. I too used quick cooking oats and baked it right away. I think next time I may use cinnamon and nutmeg instead of just cinnamon. Very easy for "planned"overs.

I assembled this last night and baked it this morning. My kids loved it. It is cold and snowy today so this made for a great breakfast. I topped it with bananas, I didn't change a thing made it exactly as stated. This was great, this will be a regular in my house. Thanks for a great recipe!

My daughter - who loves her porridge - was so busy stuffing her food into her mouth that she refused to speak when I asked her how it tasted. I got a mucky grin and a thumbs up. She says it's the best porridge she's ever eaten. In my opinion, this is an excellent recipe!
