This sauce is awesome. I put all the spices into my mini chopper to grind them fine, mostly because I was a bit worried about biting into whole fennel seeds. (DH is picky!). Anyway, it came out great and I made this pizza sauce twice this week because I've been experimenting with pizza dough. The second time I was really short on time and also out of celery, so I ended up making it without the first 4 ingredients... still fabulous!

10 stars! I doubled the recipe and was glad I did. This comes close to the pasta sauce at a local restaurant that I wanted the recipe for. I plan to use this for more than just pizza. It would be very good for a baked pasta dish. Also for dipping toasted ravioli. Thank you very much for submitting this recipe.

The only change I made was to whirl the veggies and the fennel in the blender with the tomato sauce to hide them from the kids! This was a great sauce and it was enjoyed by all, thanks!

Magnificent!!!! SUPER flavorful!! Truly authentic tasting!!! I followed the direction to a T (other than doubling it) and also included 4 cloves of minced garlic (to the doubled recipe) and simmered for 1 hour. I added about 1/2 cup of water to the sauce during simmering because it seemed too thick. I then let it come to room temperature and paired it with recipe 70165....simply magnificent! I'm from Chicago and take my pizza VERY seriously and this is a contender to some of my favorite pizza joints. EXCELLENT!

FABULOUS!! I haven't even used it on pizza yet — I just put it in the refrigerator after letting it simmer for 60 minutes. One lick of the serving spoon told me everything I needed to know. It's got a wonderfully full, rich taste — and the fennel seeds make all the difference. This is the only sauce for us now, and I'll be adapting it to a spaghetti sauce as well. Thanks so much for posting it!

OVER THE TOP! Who would have thought that googling a pizza sauce recipe would deliver the warmest most comforting pizza sauce I've ever tasted. I'm not blowing smoke either coming from a family of six with two brothers from the pizza making biz. Thank you for sharing!

Oh my gosh what can I say about this recipe, except your title says it all, ULTIMATE PIZZA SAUCE! This is the best pizza sauce I've ever tasted, way better then even pizza places. I was kinda worried about how the celery would taste in it, but it turned out perfect! This will go into my most loved recipe collection! Thanks for the keeper SAMS_Club....

Left out the fennel and added crushed red pepper flakes instead. Fabulous thick pizza sauce!

Great sauce! Made this sauce a couple of times now, I make it exactly as noted except I skip the celery and sometimes the onions(usually put those on the pizza anyways). It freezes wonderfully as well. Much cheaper then buying pizza sauce.

I have made many pizza sauces that are very delicious, but they lack the "Pizzaria" flavor. This has it! It is the fennel seeds! This is not just a delicious sauce, but really tastes authentic. This is my standby now!
