I cut in quarters, removed the seeds and steamed with the skin on - it slipped right off when it was done. Yep, it tastes just like Boston Market. YUM!

I've never been to Boston Market so I can't compare but this was delicious! The spice combo is a refreshing change from the sweetness of most squash recipes. I left the skinning until after the steaming but will not do that again as it was too hot for my fingers. Thanx for another winner Marie!

i suggest that you cut in half and then bake cut side down in oven after you wrestle this beast you will be glad you didnt try and cut it up you can spoon it out when tender about 1 hour and finish the recipe just trying to save your fingers hehehe thanks for posting dee

I enjoyed squash this week in a lovely Vermont restaurant and thought this recipe would replicate the flavors. It was very close to the restaurant dish and very good! The next time, I plan to ROAST the squash rather than steaming because I thought the squash was a bit runny due to steaming. Also, use a standard vegetable peeler to remove the skin prior to steaming or roasting. It's easiest to remove the skin when the squash is WHOLE rather than cut in half.

This is absolutely delicious - tastes just like Boston Market's recipe! My husband and I definitely rate it 5 stars. I agree with other comments that is easier to steam the squash and then take off the peel, then mash, rather than trying to peel it before you steam it.

Great recipe! I followed the recipe exactly except the squash was done after just 20 min. I ate the leftovers cold the next day as a snack - yummy!

My family really liked the squash fixed this way (I prefer just butter and salt and pepper on mine). The family gave this recipe four stars. Thanks for sharing.

Although I've never had Boston Market's, these are SCRUMPTIOUS! The labor intensive process is worth it when you bite into your first mouthful! Kudos for posting a fantabulous recipe!

I absolutely LOVE the Boston Market butternut squash and the ONE Boston Market in Utah County went out of business so we only get this when we travel now - but this recipe is GREAT. Thanks!
