I made this exactly as directed, using a Vidalia onion and La Preferida Louisiana hot sauce, and used it with a mixture of chicken drumsticks and thighs. This was an amazing barbecue sauce. I love what the lime juice and zest do for the flavor. Thanks so much for posting it, Gerry!

This is darn good "Q" sauce BK! I omitted the shallots and just used onion, I increased the garlic to 3 tablespoons and used 2 tablespoons hot sauce (we like extreme heat lol!) I like the addition of fresh fresh lime juice, great recipe BK! thanks...Kitten

Baby Kato wonderful barbecue sauce recipe! I didnt have any shallots so I just used one medium onion and 3 cloves of garlic since they were small. The flavors in this sauce are great, a little sweet along with tang and zip. While the sauce was simmering for 15 minutes I added some frozen meatballs. They were wonderful!! Thank you for posting this recipe, cant wait to try it on chicken or ribs.

This was a good and different barbecue sauce. I did modify it a little--I was out of ginger, so had to use powdered; I was out of tomato sauce and used tomato paste. I also added just a dab of chipotle puree, and some Paula Deen's House Seasoning (garlic, salt, and pepper). The thyme flavor definitely comes through in this, so someone who dislikes thyme may want to reduce the amount, but I like thyme, so no problem here!

With the barbecue season in full swing I was wanting to add something new in the way of barbecue sauces - the ingredient list had me know this one would add variety to those already in my collection - and it did! A really great BBQ sauce! Made as posted using the optional Louisiana hot sauce - loved the addition of the lime juice and zest. Thank you for another of your recipes that has been added to my collection. A recipenap for the Aus/NZ recipe swap #30.
