awesome. I used just two chicken breasts for the 4 of us and that was plenty of meat. I didn't have mushrooms, but did use a zucchini. Otherwise I followed the ingredients exactly. I did cook the chicken all the way by itself so it was crispy, then took it out of the pan and finished everything else and added the chicken back in at the last minute. this is a keeper recipe!

Yum!!! This gets a big five stars from this family!!! Pretty simple to make with wonderful flavour, not too hot and not too sweet. I added two teaspoons of chopped red chilli instead of the cayenne. Apart from that the only other things I changed in the recipe was leave out the mushrooms and cut the carrots into julienne rather than discs. This is a definite addition to our "Chinese night" menu. Thanks katie4998 for a delicious meal.

This is a great recipe even if you change some of the veggies and meat. I used 2 large pork steaks that needed cooking and substituted celery for the green pepper and mushrooms due to family allergies. I also left off the ginger since I don't like it. Other than that I followed the recipe pretty closely. I made the mistake of putting the full 1 teaspoon of cayenne and DH and I thought it a little too spicey...but adult DS said it was perfect. Irregardless I will make it again with a little less cayenne and it will become part of my regular Oriental meals. A very tasty dish! I was surprised that by using that much catsup that is didn't taste like catsup at all and that it made a nice medium thick sauce without needing additional cornstarch. EASY too!

I wanted to update my review just to say that since first coming across and making this recipe in August 2005, it has become one of our absolute favorite recipes! I make this recipe on average of once every other week, sometimes more - it is superb. A perfect mix of sweet and spicy. The only change I make is the addition of 1 clove of garlic, minced to the sauce. I generally prepare the ingredients for the recipe the night before - which makes making dinner (with or without dinner guests) a complete snap - ready within 15 minutes! If you search through recipezaar has brought you here - you have got to try this recipe - it is the BOMB! Excellent recipe Katie4998, so glad to have stumbled upon it! -=Original Review: Delicious! I made the recipe exactly as directed - it did take slightly longer to cook then listed, but it was sooooooo good! My husband rated this a 10! This is absolutely going to be a keeper in our home. DELICIOUS! — Aug 25, 2005=-

I really likes this. My DH and girls likes it too. I thought there was a little bit too much of a ketchup taste for me, but it was still really good. Next time I won't add as much ketchup and more soy sauce...play around with it some. Thanks!!

Best chicken recipe I've ever found. It was so delicious...I served it to all my friends and it went out in five minutes! Definetly one recommended..

We loved this! I made the sauce and chicken exactly as directed and played around with the veggies a bit (more carrots and peas, no mushrooms or bell peppers, added some broccoli). I was worried that it would taste ketchupy – but it was thick and sweet/tangy and delicious. Next time I’ll probably kick up the heat a bit with some red pepper flakes. We had this over Thai sticky rice.

Great recipe. Followed the recipe exactly, except I made a recipe and a half for the sauce because I had some extra chicken. My husband thought the sauce was delicious. Thanks Katie for a wonderful recipe. I will be making this often.
