These were great! Only thing I would change is to add another can of the pork and beans. They were pretty "meaty". I made these to take camping and put them in the crockpot and then when we got there cooked them on high for a couple of hours or so. They really hit the spot and tasted even better reheated the next day. Thanks!

I made this last night for supper. My husband and I loved it. It was easy to prepare and very tasty. I put mine in the crockpot on low for 6 hours.

I make these beans often but I don't put in the vinegar or the bacon[I for one don't need the fat]. I use only 1/2c. brown sugar. These beans always get gobbled right up.

I made these for my husband to take to work for a pre-Thanksgiving pot luck. Major hit...glad I didn't 'keep it simple, and just make beans' as he asked. They went so fast that they were gone before he got to them, and I made a BIG batch! I DOUBLED the recipe and made a couple of small changes; I didn't double the ground beef, using 1 1/2 lbs total. I browned the ground beef in the bacon fat, (Had to take off my Food Police hat for that one!) adding the onion and about 1/2 tsp garlic powder half way to done. Then I drained any extra fat before adding it to the rest of the recipe. I used 9 slices bacon and 1 cup of brown sugar-it was plenty sweet. I also added a can of tomato sauce and a can of drained black beans for more color. Also, a teaspoon of Liquid Smoke gave a nice touch of flavor. I drained all beans except the pork and beans. I saved the liquid from the kidney beans in case it got too dry while baking, but I didn't need it. This recipe is a keeper for many reasons; it's quick, economical, looks pretty and best of all, tastes great! Thanks Jen.

It's been 30 years or so since last I had these so I was thrilled to find your recipe matched my childhood memories exactly! I prepared with ingredients exactly as you suggested but simmered like chili on the stove top instead of baking because that's how I remember my mother doing it. Thank you so much for contributing this!

This was great! I just made it again, but this time I substituted smoked sausage for the hamburger meat. I also added some crushed red pepper flakes and a bit of cumin, and a little garlic. Yum-o!!

I doubled this recipe and took to a potluck, had everyone raving. They all wanted the recipe which is so easy to make. Thanks for making me look good and replacing my friends many baked bean recipes with this one.

Doubled the recipe to take to a pot luck. Only change I made was to substitute white beans for the butter beans. The beans were a hit. None left to take home. DH requested I make this for him very soon. Thanks for the great recipe!

Very nice baked beans. Only change I made was to reduce the sugar, as we prefer them less sweet.

These were outstanding! Awesome flavor and my DH said he could of ate the whole thing. I did change one thing and that was I used a can of pinto beans in place of the pork and beans. Thanks so much for sharing your Aunt's recipe
Its a keeper for sure!
