33 Reviews of Tapioca Pudding (using Minute Tapioca)

From: Nose

On Jan 8, 2005

So much better than buying premade, and easy — the hardest thing is waiting 20 minutes. Yep, this is the recipe on the Minute brand quick-cooking tapioca box, and it works perfectly. I do find that it helps to beat the egg WELL, until the white and yolk are well-combined, lemony-yellow, and frothy.

I have made this recipe many times. It is the same one on my minute tapioca package. It is so easy to MICROWAVE! You don't have to stand and stir the whole time, just pop it in and get it out to whisk well every 3-5 minute until it's boiling. You stir more often as it gets hotter. This works for packaged cookable pudding as well.

memory lane! I forgot how good this stuff is. Ms. Picky also loved it. Creamy and gooey and sweet and easy to make.

I am not much of a dessert maker. I dont eat tapioca but it is his favorite so I tried it to score some points. He said it was great and he is not one for easy compliments. Not like "his mother's" but then again nothing is. I won, who cares.

I love tapioca pudding! When I was a kid my mom used to make it the old fashioned way and let the tapioca pearls soak overnight. It was a time consuming process and I could never get mine to turn out like hers did so I thought I'd give this recipe a try. I couldn't wait for this to set up so I could enjoy some. I even tried it warm as you suggested (I had previously only had it cold) and I thought it was good that way too. This was such a treat. Thank's UC!

Yep, this is a goody. I usually substitute half a teaspoon of cardamom for the vanilla when I make it and it is DEElicious. Even better the next day if you have leftovers.

Ohhhhhhh YUM This really hit the spot! Although unlike Elmotoo, it wasn't sweet enough for us, so next time I will increase the sugar. I also used half milk, half evaporated canned milk. It was delicious! Thanks!!!

Yes! I remember this. Sometimes, my Dad would let it cool in the refrigerator with plastic wrap touching it so no skin would form. When cool, he would fold in sweetened whipped cream to make it fluffy — Cool Whip would work too. Thanks for the reminder of this delicious treat!

I made the mistake of using the whole box of tapioca rather than the 3 Tbsp that the recipe calls for. The result was a gooey chewy (though not inedible) mess. After consulting the recipe again and realizing my mistake, I made the pudding correctly. I used 2% reduced fat milk and thoroughly beat the egg. The result was heavenly. Next time, I'll be even more vigilant about the stirring to avoid some "golden" pieces floating around in the pudding.
